A mate of mine owns a band and he said that he could advertise my company on his cd cover of his music cds but is this a good way to get more clients to buy hosting?

Probably not.

How big are the band? Maybe if they make it into enough record shops, but you gotta think about the audience... dont expect much of a conversion rate...

I doubt you will get any customers from that, but it is worth a try. Maybe advertise that you create band websites or something.

Who is the band's target audience? Are the fans and listeners young teenagers or an older age group? How effective the advertising would be has a great deal to do with how close your business' target audience is in comparison to the band's target audience, but you shouldn't expect great results.

But how many CD's will be made?

Whats the quality of the cd production and the band?

Everything about this band and the cd will reflect directly on your company image... I wouldnt want to promote myself alongside a band as its just not the image of our company, or our target audience...

The thing about your friend advertising your company on the CD covers is very similar to buying "untargeted traffic" online.

Yes, people will see you - however, the chances of them needing a host at that exact time are miniscule. And if it's a small group, they probably won't be distributing too many CDs anyway. Now, if you were selling guitars...

Altogether, if he's offering it for free, why not? But if he wants to charge you, don't do it.

Well then I would give it a try. Even give him some money for helping you out or a commission for each sale if you get any.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Advertising your service to everyone will not work. After all, how many average people know how to design a website? And if the bands audience is directed towards teenagers, forget it. Not that teenagers do not know anything about web design, but most teenagers will not have money or be willing to pay, or do not have a credit card. You need targetted audience. The best way to do this is probably to advertise online. Pay Per Click is probably a very good way for high targetting, and I suggest you do that.

Well if it is free, I dont' see any problem with giving it a try. As others said, you may not be able to convert any sales due to untargeted audience however it may help you with your firms branding process. Even if you catch the attention of one prospective client, that should be worth something...

Yup no harm trying since it's free :stickout:

You might even find yourself a new niche hosting band and music sites!
