Hi,

I am moving my current hosting clients to a dedicated - They are currently hosted on a reseller account.

I have all my present clients (Reseller account) hosted on my name servers say NS1.mydomain.com NS2.mydomain.com

I have signed up for my dedicated with the same domain name as I'm currently using for the reseller account on the other shared server, so I'll have the same NS1.mydomain.com NS2.mydomain.com name servers - Just different IP's for the nameservers.

If I transfer all the accounts over to the dedicated, then update my Name server IP's at the registrar, will this then propagate all my current clients domains to my new server? Without them having to change the IP's at their registrar?

I hope this will work, it would make things so much easier.

Thanks for your help.

Steve

Yes. Assuming that none of your client's registrars allow them to use IP addresses instead of hostnames for nameservers. To be on the safe side, before you actually make the transfer, send out an email to all of your users telling them to make sure that they are using the hostnames & not the IP's of your nameservers.

Thanks Dan,

I had hoped that was the case and yes I will also send out an email just in case. That's always a good plan - Thanks for the reminder.

All bases covered and all that.

Cheers
