View Full Version : 1T3 has my domain on lock =[
angelic81 04-08-2005, 06:51 AM Back in 2003 I registered my domain through the horrible hosting service 1T3.com, I learned my lesson with them but the thing is that I want my domain I registered with them. It expired March 1st 2005 but it says 1T3 still has it on lock or something. I've tried contacting sales there and they have been very vague. They pointed me to their renwal page but I don't want to renew my domain with them I want them to let it go and give it to me. What do I do? What does it mean when your domain is locked? They are a reseller of eNom it appears...
angelic81 04-08-2005, 04:23 PM I really need some advice on this can anyone help please?
empresasdehosting 04-08-2005, 04:48 PM did you contact them before march 1 / 2005 ? to renew or transfer this domain?
WHTHOLIC 04-08-2005, 05:08 PM Registrar lock means that your domain is protected
& you are not allowed to transfer it out.
Usually, you can't transfer an expired domain name.
So, i think you should renew your domain with your
current host and after that you can initiate the process
of domain transfer.
Better be fast because after 30 days of expiration your
domain will go inside the redemption period and then
the reactivation cost will become high.
*I never used enom, their policies could be a bit
different… but over all this process is same as i
stated.*
angelic81 04-10-2005, 01:21 AM I contacted them after march 1st and he told me that there is a 30 day period until i can reregister my domain but it is now april 9th and it still has locked status?
MCluvR4life 04-10-2005, 03:00 AM Same thing happened to me with Dreamhost. I want my domain back :bawling:
mlovick 04-10-2005, 04:12 AM You should renew the domain with them, you dont have much choice.
You can always get it unlocked after and then xfer it - but you cant do that once it is in an expired state.
kelmas 04-10-2005, 04:40 AM I used local eNom reseller for my domain kelmas.com. When I decided to transfer it to EV1Servers, they were not very fast replying my request to unlock domain. When I sent them e-mail telling that they are about to violate ICANN rules, they quickly removed locking and I made a transfer :)
Bashar 04-11-2005, 03:39 AM if its expired eNom will automatically lock domains, you should contacted them earlier to unlock it and transfer out before expiration date.
Eindiaweb 04-11-2005, 04:09 AM Not a lot options renew with 1T3.com and then transfer it to some other registrar or loose domain.
large_nostril 04-12-2005, 12:50 AM Hey, I also had the same problem with my domain when I registered through 1T3.
It took me about a month to actually get control of my domain again but here's what you have to do:
Call up eNom at 425-274-4500 (a US number... it might be option 3 but I don't remember). Tell them your domain name and that you want them to remove the registrar lock. They'll check the whois info on your domain and then send an email to the admin's email. The email I got looked something like this:Please consider this my approval to remove the lock from the subject domain name [insertyourdomain.com]. I understand this removes all protection and the domain can be transferred away to another registrar.
enom.com the anti-spam registrar
An ICANN Accredited Registrar
Support Phone: 425-274-4500 x3
Support Fax: 425-274-4518
Simply reply to the email saying that you accept yadda yadda. During this time I'd suggest you stay on the phone with whoever you're talking to to make sure you get the email and then to get confirmation that they received your reply.
Once that's all cleared and done, go to betterwhois.com and enter your domain name and see what the results are. It should be something like:[insertyourdomain.com] is
Reserved
Registrar: Somebody (probably ENOM, INC.) Status: ACTIVEThe important part is the Status. If it says LOCKED or REGISTRAR-LOCK, then it's still locked and you'll have to wait longer. It took about an hour for my domain to be unlocked. Once that is no longer locked, go to your new registrar (Go Daddy, etc.) and send a domain transfer request for your domain. A few days later (1T3 is just that slow) and you should have your domain under control.
Oh, and you have another surprise thanks to eNom and 1T3. If you look up your domain with the TLD '.info', you'll find out it's already registered. For example, if your domain is mydomain.com, then mydomain.info is registered under your name. I haven't gotten mine back yet. I think there was another thread somewhere on this forum discussing this. Actually, there are a few, I'd link them but I'm apparently not allowed to put links until I've made 5 spam posts :D
Hope this helps you rid yourself of 1T3.
Cheers
Bashar 04-12-2005, 10:33 AM thanks for the tip large :)
angelic81 04-14-2005, 09:06 AM Thanks for all the help.
I am not renewing at 1T3 for $50 freakin dollars for a domain name. That is not an option.
I will probably have to find an eNom US number since their e-mail support SUX!.... no wait it doesn't suck its just non-existant.
I was wondering though if there was a time period where they would just LET GO of my domain name. Maybe 2-5 months? 1 year? They can't hold on to it forever....
Bashar 04-14-2005, 12:45 PM yeah its around 45days before it drops into expiration cycle (redemption period/pending delete)

www.enom.com/help would do the job
angelic81 04-24-2005, 12:04 AM Quote taken from help page:
"Also, your reseller has the tools and the capability to:
Register your nameservers for you.
Set you up with a password to access your name.
Set or remove registrar locks at any time.
Add, change, or alter contact information for your domain names.
Set, or change nameservers for your domain names.
Answer any questions regarding billing or services that they provide.
Renew your domain. "
wtf is 1t3 pulling my leg then? if they can unlock it why arent they doing so?
large_nostril 04-24-2005, 12:29 AM 1T3 are cons, in my opinion. They over sell their servers (which means not everyone gets the 1000MB they paid for). And they're incapable of fixing problems they create (like taking a month for them to remove a password from my site which rendered it comletely inaccessible). They even tried to tell me I had to pay them an extra $67 one month for going over my bandwidth limit when their service clearly states that the hosting includes unmetered/unlimited bandwidth. And on top of that, I've never even found any useable contact information from them. I seems suitable that a company like 1T3 would use a company like eNom for their domain registrations.
angelic81 04-24-2005, 08:25 AM lol I agree eNom and 1T3 are a horrible service matchmade in heaven.... I could have swornd i transfered my domain to another registrar tho...i was with 1T3 3 years ago in 2003 and im still having problems with them. I was only with them for 1 year and I am pretty sure I transfered over the domain to another host.
The question is why do they still have control over my domain...I remeber having to ask them to fix the nameservers or something I think. Is there anyway I can take my domain away from their hands and control it myself?
large_nostril 04-24-2005, 08:55 AM Is there anyway I can take my domain away from their hands and control it myself?Did you see my earlier post? It was kinda near the end of page one so you might have missed it but if you follow that information you should be able to get control over your domain.
Once you succeed in getting the lock removed from your domain, you'll need to transfer it using another domain registrar. I'd highly recommend using GoDaddy. Some people have had problems with them but they've always been very informative, helpful, and courteous to me. Their customer support actually spent about 2 hours on the phone with me while I was in the process of getting my domain released from eNom.
If you already saw that post and did those things, would you mind posting the problematic domain so I could have a look at the whois info and see if I can figure out what's wrong with it?
