I see that there is no gaurantee for network uptime - Exactly how reliable is Cogent? Can it be relied upon alone?

Hmmmm, not too sure.

We've seen over 99.95% uptime with Cogent... most of the problems we've had have been routing-related issues, which were usually solved pretty quickly.

Question:

Is it possible to signup with Cogent Bandwidth initially, and switch over to multi-home in about a month (depending service) or vice versa (depending on consumption)

1. What exactly do you mean 24x7 monitoring???

2. If a sever need hard reboot. How quickly can it be done??
Do we contact you or do we contact datacentre for hard reboot??

3. Any uptime guarantee?

- Is it possible to signup with Cogent Bandwidth initially, and switch over to multi-home in about a month (depending service) or vice versa (depending on consumption).

Unfortunately not at this time, we're looking into this capability in the future. Right now you get Cogent IP addresses if you want Cogent bandwidth, and multi-homed IP addresses if you want multi-homed bandwidth. If you want to switch, it can be done, but you will have to renumber all of your IP addresses.

- What exactly do you mean 24x7 monitoring?

We monitor your server via ping to make sure it is online. If it goes down, you will get an e-mail from our automated system.

- If a sever need hard reboot. How quickly can it be done??
Do we contact you or do we contact datacentre for hard reboot??

We will have remote reboot capability for customers soon, but for now, we can remotely reboot it if you e-mail or phone us. If you need other work requiring a presence at the data center, we have someone there most of the time, with a person on call within 15 minutes of the data center at all times.

- Any uptime guarantee?

None on Cogent, 100% guaranteed network uptime on multi-homed.

So we can switch at any time, any fees for this ?

Other than the $10/mo increase in price, no. If you plan to switch every other month, we might have to impose a fee, but if you do it once, we probably can accomadate you without any problem. Keep in mind that you would have to re-number all of your IP addresses, which is not always an easy process.

You would be getting 100GB of multi-homed transit, rather than 300GB of Cogent-only transit for an additional $10.00 per month.

Hi Jeffrey,

In your first post, you mentioned that additional transfer costs $1.00/GB with the Cogent-only bandwidth. I was wondering how much extra transfer costs with the multi-homed bandwidth?

According to Darkorb's licensing agreement, a Cpanel distributor cannot sell or advertise a license for less than $60/month. Do you have special arrangements with them to offer it for less?

What kind of support do you offer when someone needs assistance with a Cpanel problem?

You are correct about EXTERNAL licenses. However, we can provide INTERNAL liscenses at whatever cost we want. I'm not serverhost, but my company is a DarkORB Partner NOC (as is serverhost) so I know a bit about this. :-)

ServerHost is offering this pricing on it's INTERNAL servers.

btw, VERY nice offer, Jeff!

These are unmanaged servers. It is the responsibility of the customer to try and resolve their issues first using publicly available tools, such as the Cpanel.net support forums. Depending upon the severity of the problem at that point, we will either fix it for free, or bill the client at $75 per hour. However - we've never charged a client to fix a Cpanel issue yet. ;)

Then how do BurstNET and VDI offer it for lower than $60? You're talking about external licenses, which doesn't apply in this case. I can sell internal licenses for whatever I want to.

On a separate note, I've added more servers, and taken out the ones that are sold. The ones that are listed as pending have a customer who says they are going to order, but the sale has not been completed yet. Thanks for all of the interest.
