For virtual hosting, would it be reasonable to use Windows 2000 Professional as the operating system instead of Windows 2000 Server?

What are the differences in the two solutions under "normal" virtual hosting situation.

Whats the gain by using the server thingy?

After all its a bit pricy :-)

While this is true using IIS, I believe you could run Apache webserver and use Pro since it is a third party webserver. I am not 100% positive of this but if you intend to run IIS as mentioned above Pro can only be used as a Personal Webserver where Server would be able to do as many as tha machine can handle.

Yes, it is true that you can host unlimited domains if you put Apache on Windows. However, scripting will not work 100%, like if you were to put ASP chillisoft on unix, you can't take adavantage of all the scripting functions.
