Owwkay... pretty expensive if you ask me (just checked your site).
I composed a Server-package alike the AMD II from RS (with 300GB transfer), and my monthly fee went over 1200 BRITISH POUNDS !! + a 400£ set-up fee!

I understand that bandwidth is more expensive in GB, but this is really...

We will never be able to compete with that kind of service offered in the USA, and don't intend to. Our bandwidth is provided by XO and Easynet, so we mainly cater for European customers. However, our pricing for lower end bandwidth is very competitive.

But I don't want to turn this into a debate about the relative costs of bandwidth between USA / UK / Europe... Everyone knows it is LOTS more expensive over here (especially when it's from quality Tier 1 providers). :-)

However we will be revising our high-end bandwidth pricing in a few months once our new circuits have been installed... there will be a significant reduction!

Right! Exactly what I mean!
That's like a bit useless to mention 'servers starting from 50£, when that server, with those specs is like no longer up-to-date (in fact it should be FORBIDDEN)... :o

Again; I apologize if this sounds too rude...

Well, there is a minimum you can go to... even excluding hardware costs there are fixed costs like electricity, security, support, staff. FYI, we are currently using 950Mhz Celeron's. 95% of sites will also run fine on a 700Mhz and 64MB RAM. A few extra Mhz doesn't make any real difference to web hosting - the bottle neck is almost always the HDD/network.

But, we also offer this spec (as an example):

- Intel Pentium III 1Ghz
- 256MB Memory
- 10GB transfer per month
- 20GB IDE Hard Disk

For £107 per month with a £93 set-up fee, WITH NO CONTRACT. Or, to put it on a level field with almost all providers who require a 12 contract, it works out at £96 per month (or about $130).

That is a VERY good price for the European market, and may I suggest you stop trying to unfairly compare it to US products and the US market. Look for a company offering servers in the UK that beat that spec/price.

If somebody in the UK wants a server that doesn't have 100ms ping time they will need one in the UK/Europe. That is the market we are aiming at, and thus we do not even bother to target the USA!

Just to clear it up :)

Also wondering how long these 300GB / month offers will last once all the cowboy transit providers run out of cash.

I am from Romania and as long as the average traceroute response time is 230-270 ms in US and 100-120 ms in UK, I'll go for US.

It is true that in Europe the costs are very high, that's why all the people from Europe are buying in US. When the clever guys from EU and the rest of the countries will understand that encouraging the development of the infrastructure means economic growth we'll have the dreamed low prices. Until then ... long live US!
