hellloooo :D :cartman: :D :cartman:

I'm happy to announce that I will get my first dedicated within 2 or 3 days. Its a P3 (no raid, no scsi) running redhat 7.2 and webmin.

Could you people (already used to get running deds within minutes :D ) please tell me sort of CHECKLIST and help me to create a TODO list of all the things i have to/should install, what to check and monitor?

It would be also great if you could suggest me some good newsletters or mailinglists (security, patches, etc.) where anybody running a red hat server should be subscribed to.

thanks a lot! :-)

P.S. if you know a good manual to start doing the basic things on a redhat box, i would highly apreciate this :-) thanks

The Red Hat manual is actually a really good starting point. That's one of the better things of Red Hat. If you don't have a copy, you can read it online.

Also, the first thing you will want to do is type:

man up2date

Unless your ISP has updated your machine, there are a few security vulnerabilities in RedHat 7.2.
