View Full Version : Prefer to use ______ for online payments
Lonny 03-09-2002, 04:58 AM I have a different type of question for you, I noticed on this board you got some people asking who is better pay pal, revecom etc.
But as a customer, buying ad packages or any other service is there any merchant you prefer to use?
hostcharge
ematic.com
other merchant?
thanks

Very good, never thought of that. What do customers prefer?
Walter 03-09-2002, 03:43 PM I don't think a customer cares much which merchant/gateway the host/directory/shop is using - and I am a customer, too.
Paypal is a pain because you have to register first. As a customer I like it as simple as possible and secure.

I prefer paypal because i dont like giving my CC # out no matter how secure it is.

Of course I respect your opinion - but I wonder where is the problem?
If my cc ever gets compromised (and this never happened in the last few years) I do a chargeback and get a new card no from the cc company.
That and visa keeps dicking around, they keep sending me CC's with expiration dates of the month that i get it.
hi,
As a customer I don't really care. Although I would think twice about a business that uses PayPal, because it seems somewhat unprofessional (at least their low-end account does). When I think PayPal, I think Ebay. If you are running a legitimate business you should be able to afford something with your name on it.
ciao :D
p.s.
When I get my online business started, I will probably start with 2checkout.com and once I see some revenue move to echo-inc.com
tazd9t9 03-09-2002, 09:06 PM Well as a host at the moment i am using paypal while i get my merchant account sorted.
as a customer i really dont mind all that much, i have a paypal account and a nochex account so i dont need 2 register and i dont mind the other gateways

LOL, I've had that happen before. Was a bit odd when I went to pay for something a month after I got the new card and the clerk said it was expired. I hadn't noticed, heh
It has happened to me 3 times now! oh well, one day in the near future i may get a CC with an expiration date that expires in over 1 month.
imago-allan 03-10-2002, 10:30 AM As a customer, I prefer payment gateways that lets me order fast. Clickbank is one. That is why we're using it on our website. It bogs down in an insignificant amount of time.
2checkout is also quite user-friendly but not that fast in the processing of orders.
I don't use paypal as a customer nor as a business. I mean you don't have to register in order to pay. Besides, paypal is only available in some "selected" countries.
Revecom or paysystems(?) is ok too. But, sometimes the order does not get through and you have to repeat again.
So far those are the payment processors/gateways that I have used as a customer.
Thanks for the time reading.
:)

As a customer, I'm not to fond of PaySystems as it took forever to get my refund for the Hosturbo fiasco. Also as a customer, I like 2Checkout and Revecom. PayPal is ok, but I use it as a last resort. Ibill's security certs have come up as expired the last time i tried using them. CCBill's system I like.
[general warning]
Any company that will list SOGEPAS as their payment processor is off my list. Apparently, SOGEPAS (the payment processor) allows manual CC input and somehow (they don't know either) my credit card number was charged $20 for services I didn't use or authorize (a fetish website ??? ) They are based in the UK so suing them for misconduct is out of the question (unless they do have offices here.....but I can't seem to find them) They didn't even bother apologizing when I told them, so now VISA is investigating and may suspend their gateway as this isn't the first complaint they've received.
As a merchant: I love Revecom and 2Checkout....easiest to use ;-):)
