Hello all.

I'm looking for partners (web administration experience preferred but not necessarily needed) in renting a dedicated server. I already have one prospective partner but am looking for more.

The servers are located in Copenhagen, Denmark and are connected at 100mbps (4 1Gbps burstable network connections).

If I can get 1 or 2 partners, i will be pursuing this server:

Fedora Core 2 Intel Celeron 2.2Ghz server with 512MB DDR RAM, 40 disk space, 10000 GB bandwidth/month and 1 IP addresses.

Price is 60 Euros or about 80$/month. Split 3 ways about 26$/month.

The only thing you cannot use it for is IRC.

If i get two or more partners, I will be pursing this:

Fedora Core 2 Intel Celeron 2.4Ghz server with 512 DDR RAM RAM, 80 disk space, 10000 GB bandwidth/month and 5 IP addresses. Daily automated backups no matter how large your data is. This can then be restored at any time via your ssh console or by a technician.

The cost would be 80 Euros/month or about 100$/month. Split 3 ways would be about 33$/month, split 4 ways would be 25$/month, split 5 ways would be 20$/month.

let me know if you are interested.

Have you looked into getting a VPS account is your worried about the cost of a dedicated server?

Yes, however, currently one of my prospective partners and I will both be needing more bandwidth and space than what most VPS's have.

I'm interested however:

Who will have full control of the server?

Who can gaurantee that the other partners will make payments to keep the server online?

Is the bandwidth truely 10,000gig's like in your first post or 1,000?

What software will be loaded onto it?

Who will have full control of the server?

We will all have access through accounts(with only read and execute permissions), however will have to make sure that no one will use the root account to log in and use the server since that's a security risk.

Who can gaurantee that the other partners will make payments to keep the server online? We will have to work that out when we find out who is going to in on this.

Is the bandwidth truely 10,000gig's like in your first post or 1,000? yes it is http://www.blackicehosting.com/index/

That will be up to us to decide. There are many free CPs and firewalls that you can use instead of paying monthly prices for them. we just need to set them up ourselves which should not take too long if we have a few people with admin experience.

You can never get Unlimited Bandwidth theres always a catch, a company can not offer unlimited bandwidth enless they have the money to back them up but this costs loads. Imagine if 100 people bought that package with unlimited bandwidth and used 10000 GB each thats:

10 x 10000 = 100 000 GB per month. The cost would be through the roof.

But it doesnt say anything in the terms of service / conditions. So lets all buy the package on the first month offer free hosting to the world, and if we all run tooo much bandwidth there network will crash......

And then they might realise that its almost impossible to offer unlimited bandwidth.

I see your point.

But they do have 4 1-Gbps connections as well as moderately high prices on their servers (151$ for the one I want to rent) They are also using one of Europe's largest data center companies, InterXion.

*the idea of crashing the network was a joke, it will proberly take a lot of people to crash a network :) * i was just putting my point across.

It is a valid point you can go halfs on my server if you want:

AMD 2600
80GB HDD
512mb RAM
1000 GB Bandwidth
CPanel / WHM / Fantasico
Managed / Secure

It costs me $109 a month. Interested?
