View Full Version : Revecom - Pakistan?
awhost 03-08-2002, 12:44 PM This following quote is from Revecom's site under About Us:
"Based in Montreal, New York and Pakistan, PaySystems.com is a dedicated team of thinkers, award-winning designers and advanced software engineers."
Pakistan? I assume they mean middle-east Pakistan...
Can someone explain why this would be an OK processor? A lot of people give good reviews based on experience.

Why would it exactly be 'unsafe' to do business with Pakistan?
awhost 03-08-2002, 03:12 PM I don't know, that's why I am asking. I know that some middle east contries the US does not have good relationships with.

Asher S 03-08-2002, 03:17 PM Well you beleive wrong then :) Pakistan is a perfectly nice country to do business with. And the US has a pretty good relationship with Pakistan... think back from September 11th and you'll see what I mean. ;)
You even said yourself that they have branches in Montreal and New York, so why wouldn't it be safe?
awhost 03-08-2002, 04:53 PM Just wanted to clarify that I am not trying to state that Pakistan is a bad country. I am just being catious because I have little knowledge of middle east business relationships. Heck I don't even think Afghanistan was a bad country when it was still under the Taliban. I assume that most people in any country in the world are good people. We only hear about the bad.

Skeptical 03-09-2002, 09:08 AM Pakistan is probably where they are outsourcing their support staff.

To my knowledge:
- The used to/have an office in Pakistan
- Quite a bit of the developement for their MCP/Sale system took place in Pakistan. Which is hardly surprising considering that some of the best programmers are from Pakistan, India and some parts of Asia.

akashik 03-09-2002, 10:31 AM I think a fair bit of their 'after hours' support goes there so they can do 24 hour support. The last few months has seen this disappear however so I presume it's listed due to what was said above (code development).
I suppose if you can claim another country as a part of your 'team' then why not. :)

Sesran 03-09-2002, 01:27 PM I remember a while back that they were only based in Pakistan. (I could be wrong) They have since opened offices in the US to accomodate US merchants. We used to use Instabill that is bosed solely outside of the US, but they have since gone under. I am always hesitant dealing with middle East countrys, but the reason is because most of our hosting fraud seems to come from there. But I wouldn't make that my primary reason for not using a company. Do a search on them and see what other peoples opinions are.
kickster 03-18-2002, 12:18 PM Pakistan is in south central asia not middle east.
I dont see why it would be bad to do business with them!!
DaHOST 03-18-2002, 01:42 PM It doesn't hurt to ask the question. It's better to be safe than sorry. If you're not sure of the country you're doing business with it could create a whole world of legal problems if they're unfriendly to the US. I've seen this happen many times. Pakistan is on the list of freindlies BTW.......
awhost 03-18-2002, 01:52 PM We are talking about the same country that while the government is being helpful to us, their people where rioting against the US in the streets?
I would just feel more comfortable dealing with a US based company for this type of service.

I wouldn't let a few misguided loudmouths spoil the whole population. We have our share here in the US that constantly give us public relations problems overseas.

Such as Enron, perhaps? Or Global Crossing? :D
Asher S 03-18-2002, 02:38 PM :D LOL very well said.
Yes however it is a fact that the media loves to exagerate about rioting. That stuff is simply not happening in cities like Karachi or Lahore or Islmabad or anywhere as a matter of fact. Even if there are its in the very backward areas where unfortunately some people are less educated than others.

awhost 03-18-2002, 02:41 PM So why did Pakistan take so long to decide if they would even help the US?
Asher S 03-18-2002, 02:45 PM Originally posted by neofree

Simply because of the fact that the Government needed to convince the extreme sects of the reasons that why Pakistan has to support the USA.
If they didn't do that, then you'd see some real outbursts and rioting...
