Just curious here, we use Qwest as our primary backbone and Sprint as our secondary. We spend a whole lot more for bandwidth costs than what we would pay for Cogent.

What I want to know, is Cogent really that good that people are flocking to them because of the bandwidth?

I have heard both positive and alot of negative on this issue, and I want to hear from the real web guru's that use or have used Cogent, and thier experience with it.

Please, let us know for real, if Cogent is so cheap and good, why are ISP's still using and spending big dollars for Qwest, Sprint, AT+T, etc???

The key here is cost, not quality. Cogent's network is a little whacked in some places. People are willing to accept that for the price. I think as an additional line, it's a great deal, but I wouldn't use them as a primary provider just yet.

We're currently looking into Cogent as a secondary provider, and I can tell you this: Cogent is NOT as bad as many people say it is. That said, I would always back it up with lines from other providers, in case they go down.

Many people don't even know if it's good or not. They see cogent bandwidth and start shouting: "COGENT IS CRAP".
But, it's actually not!!! We have cogent bandwidth in 4 different datacenters around the US and I only can say: COGENT ROCKS!!!
Yes i can say that because we're monitoring all our servers with each other and cogent is up 99.95%-99.99% of the time!
I even would say: It's better than Qwest!
