Hi all, wasnt quite sure where to post so I thought i'd slap it in here.
Im running a dedicated box and want to setup my very own nntp server, just for me to use.
Any ideas how I would go about this, how much bandwidth it will eat, thanks all!

bump..
any ideas?? Please please help :)
I guess it really depends on how popular it will become.
That said, consider the no. of newsgroups on Usenet.
Then, consider how many people will access your NNTP server.
And consider the frequency the NNTP server will be accessed.
I'd say you'd be roughly looking at a couple of GIGs to start off with (particularly if people hit the porn binaries straight away), and then explode (and go up and up and up and up)....
dont forget in order to send news out news has got to come in. that means even if your nntp server isnt being accessed at all you will be looking at a steady 1-2.5 meg a second transfer depending on the detail of newsgroups you suck. my newsgroups (about 45,000) currently suck up 1.5 megs a sec 24/7
