Hey,
I am not sure if many have heard about this, I haven't seen a post yet but AccountLab is no longer free.

I thought it had great potential in the free software market.
phpcoin is now also going premium and I thought AccountLab would be the one to take over.

If you still have AccountLab, you are allowed to keep your version, but I don't think there will be further upgrades in the future available for the free versions.

Not too sure about the support.

I thought it was an April fools at first...but it was posted yesterday.

Current AccountLab licensees are free to continue using AccountLab in its current state under the existing license restrictions. Once AccountLabPlus is released, we will offer AccountLab customers the following special deals:

* AccountLab customers who have purchased the ad-free $37.50 license, will get upon request a 2-year domain-based license of AccountLabPlus for no additional charge. Renewals after the first 2 years are billed at the then current yearly rate for an AccountLabPlus domain-based license.

* AccountLab customers who have purchased the "Internal License" at $49.95 monthly, may upgrade to AccountLabPlus and use it for one year with the same terms. After this year they will have to continue with our server-based license (with or without the Fantastico discount as appropriate), at the then-current renewal price. You can also switch immediately to our new server-based license plan if you want, as our price is better if you own up to 6 servers. The price is even better if your servers have a Fantastico license purchased through our shop and will be even better in the following years.

Note: The above outlines your upgrade options. Your current rights to use the current AccountLab version are not limited in any way.

If you still have questions about this new arrangement please feel free to email me directly.

We want to thank you very much for your interest in and use of our product and we promise you that together we will make AccountLabPlus a truly amazing piece of software.

John

It is a bummer but I think the new business model they have in mind makes more sense and will prolong the viability of their product.
