Lubby 04-01-2005, 12:08 PM Never actually heard of this before, what would be the benefit to it? Inthrive 04-01-2005, 12:25 PM I know someone who uses http://www.prepaidlegal.com/ for personal needs and hasn't had any problems. They're listed on the NYSE, so I don't think they're a scam. I'd be interested to hear if anyone is using thier business package. WH-Coach 04-01-2005, 12:56 PM I used to work for a competitor of prepaid legal. PPL actually an MLM thing but they have a pretty good service. I think you can get their services for a pretty good price and it's worth the peace of mind to know that you have basically covered the retainer for most simple legal issues. It's not much good if you find yourself in a class action lawsuit but I don't think anybody would have expected that ;) IMeanWebHosting 04-01-2005, 01:59 PM Originally posted by Inthrive I know someone who uses http://www.prepaidlegal.com/ for personal needs and hasn't had any problems. They came into my office talking about how they offer this to all new businesses. bizwired 04-02-2005, 01:24 AM Actully one of my managers are a ppl associate, introduced it me. I was looking at it for my business and now my wife and I are intrested in selling it just reviewing the formalities. It is restrictive based upon the state or provience your in, but at the same time I've heard a number of people say that it's worth the money approx. $26 a month. Pre warning though if your a criminal $26 a month isn't going to cover you, although they will give your 25% off the normal fees. Rich E_man3 04-02-2005, 01:58 AM I've also considered ppl. What they offer seems nice for just $26 / month. Basically if you need them to review some documents or something before you sign them you just fax it to them Or what ever legal questions you have you simply give them a call. Although the $26 / month does not cover major things you do get a discount and you have somebody whom to call when something major does occur. DaveNET 04-02-2005, 04:09 AM One thing they do cover that many people will benefit from, legal representation for traffic violations. Keeping tickets off of your record can make a big difference in your automobile insurance rates. And if you've ever been to traffic court you'll notice people with lawyers representing them generally get to go first, everyone else waits. nolanweb 04-02-2005, 10:31 AM You can also buy the monthly service that covers your business too. PPL has paid for itself dozens of time since I became a member 2 years ago. UniServe Hosting 04-02-2005, 11:02 AM PPL actually an MLM thing but they have a pretty good service Multi-Level-Marketing blows goats. I got sucked into it once and never again. I would recommend the following reading to anyone who has 10 minutes to spare. It will be useful and give you a solid understanding of MLM and how it functions/operates. What's Wrong With Multi-Level Marketing? (http://www.vandruff.com/mlm.html) TMX 04-02-2005, 02:10 PM Several years ago, I was maintenance supervisor for an apartment complex here in Raleigh. One of my unofficial duties was to bounce the various salesman who would often show up and start gong door-to-door attempting to sell (insert name of worthless overpriced crap here) to my residents. One afternoon, I caught a rep from Prepaid Legal going around knocking on doors. When I asked him to leave, citing the property's 'no soliciting' policy, as well as the "no soliciting" sign he walked right past on his way in, he started getting very upset and belligerant, insisting that he wasn't soliciting. After a couple of minutes of this, it became apparent that he thought I was accusing him of prostitution. Once I explained to him that 'soliciting' in this context meant selling crap door-to-door, he calmed down and ultimately left. If this genius was representative of the Prepaid Legal braiun trust, I think I'll pass. -Bob TMX 04-02-2005, 02:12 PM Originally posted by unixparse Multi-Level-Marketing blows goats.
