From my experience I would say first is don't run it from a computer that you use everyday. Dedicate a Server for just that. Second is Describ the kinda of server that you will be using, OS, Hardware, Etc.. Just so that we may help you out a little better. Not sure if I am missing something but lets start with that. Oh yeah one last important thing, How will you be connecting the server to the internet, T1, DSL, etc... By the way if you are planning on hosting an adult site from home better have a 1.5Mbps connection or better if it is just one site. Just my two cents.

Like dipstick said its better to dedicate a server for it. It is alos advisbale to use an OS like Linux or FreeBSD. Once you have either insatlled and connected to the 'net use http://www.apachetoolbox.com to get everything running.

My personal opinion on Apache would be to use it with Linux. But make sure you have a DNS server to or someone that has a DNS host or something of that nature. Also you might want to look into getting a Firewall, If you are going to use windows, make sure that you have a good Virus protection because alot of A**holes like to put the code red virus or something like into your port 80 or 8080. But make sure that you at least have those 2 things first if you are running windows. Which Operating System are you going to be running?

WinXP.
What do I do to set all that stuff up???

Not sure if I would us XP for hosting, I am not to familar with it, but can you host a web site with it? I would say us a Different OS first. You might be giving yourself more of a headache using XP then you would if you were using NT 4.0 or linux.

You can also try nusphere (http://www.nusphere.com). It will install MySQL, Perl, Apache w/ mod_perl & mod_ssl, PHP, phpMyAdmin, and more. You need to go to the "free downloads" section to find it. They also sell an enhanced version, so most links will take you to that.

The nusphere package is all installed via your web browser. Just unzip the package, and read the README. It is very simple to setup, and comes with a web based management console as well. I don't know anything about indigo, so I can't speak for it.
