Hello everyone. This is my first post in this great forum.

I'd like to know if it is possible to host 100 to 120 domains on a $20-30 reseller package. My choices are myriadnetwork, site5 and hostingzoom. Most of the sites will be plain html based with very low traffic. I guess many of you would advise me to go for a dedicated server. But I think that will be a overkill for me.

Regards.

I have heard of members here said that a dedicated server should container, probably 400- 500 sites / domains . So I am guessing that you might have to go for a semi dedicated or VPS. However, you can try asking your reseller provider if this is ok for them.

It also depends if all the domains you have receives hits regularly. I am on hostingzoom. so far it is pretty stable.

If its just HTML & all domains would be getting low Traffic, a Reseller would be fine actully.

Just make sure, your Space requirements are met by the Reseller Package. Moreover, If your sites grow in the near future, you can always Upgrade to a Dedicated Server, but changing the Nameservers & DNS of all 100-120 Domains can be a little Problem :)

Hi Ezmsg:

I'd also suggest a VPS solution over a reseller account although your budget may not be able to afford you this solution. As far as your choices go, all three would suit you just fine. :-)

Changing nameservers should be the least of your worries unless your domains* have braindead registrars that need to know the IP addresses of your nameservers.

* Yes, I know, your nameservers are defined by IP in your own domain's registrar, but they shouldn't be that way for your clients.

Thanks all. Could you suggest a company that sells both reseller hosting and dedicated server? Obviously now I'm planning to start with a reseller account and then shift to a dedicated server as my domains increases. I think there will be less hassle if this switch is within the same company. Any recommendation?

Switching from a reseller account to a dedicated server will be a hassle no matter what. You'll save yourself from having to change your billing setup, but not much else. Migrating 100s of accounts from one server to another is a pain.

A dedicated server is overkill for you. We have accounts with over 300 domains all running static html and it works fine. :)
