Yes, I like having things in life at the tips of my hands. Having a control panel brings me a step closer to achieving my life-long dream of becoming an evil overlord.

I haven't been doing this for that long but my impression is that you should be able to run servers etc with out a CP.

Most people I have spoken to feel that is you run your own server but don't know the basics you become a bit of a liabilty.

With that said, CPs reduce man hours and increase productivity of a hosting company no end and I can't see how a large reseller could do it with a customer CP.

Technically, no. Business wise yes. A good control panel will save you time ( =money ) for setting up accounts etc, decrease support time ( = customers can add email addresses etc themselves ). This means prices can be lower.

Also customers are getting used to having a control panel - if I was to choose between a host with and a host without a cp I'd choose the one with, no doubt.
