I am looking for a checkout company with low set fees per transaction. My transaction amounts will be low, ($3 or $15) so I can't have then taking $1 as a set fee. Anyone have any suggestions, I might go with 2checkout but they would cost me 18 cents per $3 transaction.

2Checkout is the one that I use and like, but to correct your post, it would be $0.45 transaction fee plus the 5.5% for your $3 transaction......so about $0.62 per $4 transaction....
That doesn't help though does it??

They would charge you $0.62 on a $3 charge. Don't forget the per transaction charge. (Darn, utopia beat me to it)
You will never make money on $3 transactions unless you are selling ebooks or something that you basically have gotten for a one-time charge or free. Better to find a way to increase average ticket. For instance, in hosting, on the cheapest accounts don't accept monthly. If selling products, find a way to make a set. For instance, you have inexpensive costume jewelry such as earrings you would sell for $3. Sell a set of 3 for $8.95 or even 4 for $9.95.

Have them pay for the entire year or 6 months in advance.

How often does your online magazine/newsletter come out? Is $3 for the whole year, or for one issue?
An alternative to 2Checkout is PayPal. I think they charge just over 20 cents plus 2.9% per transaction, although if you have customers from outside of the US it will be very difficult for them to sign up.

$3 for one month. $15 for 6 months.
I use Paypal right now but there is almost no way to integrate it with my site, plus people don't like signing up. I think I would lose lots of customers from using Paypal
if the amount is above usd 10 then 2 checkout is one of the best solution it seems. What i mean if paid yearly etc.
