Hi,
I have a issue with one of the domain name which is pointing to my IP address on my Domain. I contacted networksolution where domain name is registered and they said they are not responsible for such thing. They asked me contact owner of the domain and email was bounced back.

How do I resolve this issue.

When I go to domain in question, it shows all the same content as my website.

Thanks

Had this happen to me once with a site I maintained. Can you figure out from the WHOIS who hosts the site? I think in my case, it was actually the same host and some old records on the server weren't properly cleared.

No it is not hosted by same company. I checked and it is hosted by Network Solutions. I think domain is just parted there. I contacted them and they said they are not responsible for domains

IMO, if they have whois protector ON at networksolutions you can't do anything about the situation. The most you can do is contact admin listed in domain whois.

Apart from all legal issues you can simply deny request from that domain in a htaccess file.

Does it look like a goof or does it look like a steal? Meaning, the content of your site relate to the domain name in question?

PS - did you talk to their hosting customer service or their domain registration customer service? (Do they even have different people for each, I don't know)??

Network Solutions is big company. That's problem that they are too big. They even send me per what Law they are denying me to reveal this info as below

"On November 1, 1999, a three-judge panel of the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth-Circuit ruled that Network Solutions has no responsibility or duty to police the rights of trademark owners concerning domain names. If the domain owner in question is conducting criminal activity we would ask you to defer to either the police or the proper authorities. "

Also, this domain has Private registration so they said it is valuable info. and they cannot reveal to me but i can send it to one of Networksolution email address where they will be forwarding email to customer. I send to thier email address and it bounced back..

Anyways, how can I prevent this domain coming to my site. I am using IIS not unix so i do not have .htaccess file. ?

Gotta love that one. I guess they end up in a bad spot no matter what they do (help or don't help - the rights of others versus the rights of their clients).

I'd check with your host in that case to see what can be done about routing the traffic.

If the domain of question has Private Registration and you send it to the most current email address listed in Network Solutions whois (mind you NS rotates that email address) and it bounces contact NS and tell them they have a domain where the email bounces back and as such the contact has stale data which by ICANN must be remedied or the domain deleted (the process will take a long time to transpire though).

Just a question though... and am generally interested -- why do you care so much?

You could also create a index.html page which rewrites to your domain with a different home page -- as such anything directed to you gets rewritten to your domain...

I think you can report the domain to google as fraud... http://www.google.com/support/bin/request.py?contact_type=webmaster&hl=en
