View Full Version : accepting credit card payments
alphix 03-31-2005, 04:45 AM Hi all, i'm just starting out in the webhosting industry.
how do you guys accept recurring credit card payments? Is paypal reliable for this service? i heard about worldpay, but their startup cost is way too expensive for me.
what recommendations do you have? i heard about 2co too... as well as many bad reviews about them.
AntiSpamHosts 03-31-2005, 04:58 AM I use PayPal and 2CO - I am very satisfied with both. Neither have done anything wrong to me, and I do run a decent ammount of transactions through both.
alphix 03-31-2005, 05:53 AM how does 2CO transfers the money to you after every transactions?
*feeling noobish*
Devil Inside 03-31-2005, 06:00 AM for me - they did a deposit directly to my bank account every two weeks. (1st and 16th of each month payment are processed. Funds arrive shortly after)
However, I've recently left them after seeing how some vendors were being treated/ignored when they did not receive their payments for 11+ days. And when I did the stupd thing of posting 2CO's phone number on the vendor's support forum, the thread was completely deleted.
I still wonder if those vendors got help or not... *shrugs*
So yeah - I left before something like that could happen to me. It's my money, and I want it on time. Not weeks later because some silly tech doesn't want to deal with the problem.
alphix 03-31-2005, 06:04 AM So.. after you left C2O, which gateway did you use after that?
how is the process of transfering funds to bank account being done? is it limited to certain locations only?
Devil Inside 03-31-2005, 06:15 AM I'm now with http://eftsecure.com - which is a true gateway. Not a 3rd party processor.
cards are processed and funds deposited into my bank every day. At the end of the month - eftsecure will pull their fees out of my bank account.
Limited to certain locations? I take it you're not in the USA, or did I misunderstand the question?...
I'll pretend I understood it right... They work with US accounts only it seems.
alphix 03-31-2005, 06:38 AM Yes.. i'm not from USA. i'm from Singapore. Is paypal a good choice for me? Any disadvantages compared to others? I have another qns tho.. if i'm starting out with my paypal account (for collecting payments), do i use my own personal CC for verification?

It seems like your starting out with a tight budget, well then why not just use paypal to start with and when you get some source of income move onto other payment processors, you could also try NOCHEX asswell as paypal.
Corey Bryant 03-31-2005, 10:36 AM Start with Paypal if they can support your country as well as maybe 2Co. And then when you can, you can even get a merchant account, possibly from your local even
alphix 03-31-2005, 10:42 AM how many accounts do you maintain for paypal? do you guys have your own personal paypal accounts as well?
how many paypal accounts do they limit to each credit card number?
fusioncroc 03-31-2005, 05:15 PM NOCHEX is for UK only as far as i know .
lsredford 04-27-2005, 11:33 AM might want to research further if committing to Net 1. I've had a bad experience with them. Couldn't understand extra charges on my bill so called them with questions. Rep didn't know answers and had to call me back, but in the end gave me incorrect info.
I've also had to pay for extra security from 3rd party services because Network 1 wasn't getting the job done. I caught them not even checking the CVV on a months worth of transactions. First, they denied but then I showed them their own reporting. They might be ok in the bricks and mortar environment, but they have a ways to go in the e-commerce realm.

You could have a look at InternetSecure at http://www.internetsecure.com/
to see whether they fit your needs.

The way it works. You fill a form containing price and this kind of stuff and they give you a link. Your customers just have to click on the link and fill the credit card information or paypal user information. You are finally noticed of every paiment ...
You decide when you want to transfer the cash to your bank account.
You should check for paypal fees too... I'm using them as a business but i'm from canada...
I know they have a lot of country with which they do not do business at all... or they will not accept to transfer money to some country. Read the faq. You should find it :)
Corey Bryant 04-27-2005, 04:40 PM Singapore is supported by Paypal (http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_display-approved-signup-countries-outside)
StevensOnln1 04-28-2005, 05:14 PM I believe PayPal limit you to having one personal account and one business/premier account. Also, each credit card and bank account can only be added to one PayPal account at any time. :)
Sandra01 04-28-2005, 06:30 PM If you can get a e-onlinedata account (USA) they're the best!, very cheap fees and very easy transactions and good service.
Of course we also use paypal.
