View Full Version : Your opinions please
marksy 12-16-2000, 11:33 PM Hey, we're having a logo done and would love your feedback:
http://www.netfronts.com/test/
#1-6..first one is the logo, not the whole header..Thanks!
SiperNet 12-17-2000, 12:30 AM I vote for number 5.
etLux 12-17-2000, 12:48 AM From a practical standpoint, none of the first five are serviceable.
You want something really, really big -- around 800x400 pixels or so -- that way you don't have to worry so much about pesky things like content on the page, since most of the prime screen territory is already covered.
SiperNet 12-17-2000, 01:03 AM I must retract my vote due to the fact my wife has reminded me that my opinion doesn't matter anyway!
etLux 12-17-2000, 01:17 AM You'll be pleased to know that your wife has just reminded my wife to remind me of the same thing. As you know, the whole damned batch of them are all secretly in communication with each other.
thinkcomp 12-17-2000, 03:07 AM To be honest, as a graphic designer, I do not feel that any of the drafts on that page convey much of a sense of leadership, stability, or innovation - all characteristics that customers would look for in a successful web hosting company.
All of the people icons in the first four are pointed at the tips, resembling ghosts more than anything else. The last two symbols happen to point downward, which does not represent the word "front" very well.
Sorry for the negative outlook, but since I am a business owner, as well, I know that I would much rather know that my logo needs work in advance, rather than after I adopt it.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

etLux 12-17-2000, 03:11 AM Aaron, just plain curiousity, but can I ask why the guy in your logo is wearing a red toupee and eating a banana?
jtan15 12-17-2000, 11:59 AM Well, I'm not sure if you are counting the top one in your numbering, but personally my favorite one is the second image from the top, with the second-to-last image in a very close second place.
Very nice! :)

This is true. In fact, the logo should be the ENTIRE content of the page, so you get that prime 1,000,000,001 ranking on all the search engines and so that any visitors you get to your site will get to have a nice long 1-hour nap while they get to sit and wait.
Seriously...I like the first one, if you could somehow bring the little ghost dude to the front of the logo more. The "move to the front" is a good slogan though.
Oh, and make sure you change your graphic to green and pink because everyone knows that all serious designers use as much green and pink as humanly possible. They were gonna use them on the Star Spangled Banner originally, but then the thought of the US becoming a global superpower arose and they decided to go with red, white and...that other colour.
kunal 12-17-2000, 02:47 PM I like the last one. Its neat.

Although Spider John is on the right track here, I'm afraid that, as is the nature of spiders, his color sense is somewhat distorted.
The proper colors to be used here would not be green and pink, as these tend to offend the eye only somewhat.
Ideally, one should saturate a page with...
magenta and lime.
Spider John 12-17-2000, 06:05 PM No no no no NO!
Magenta and lime are clearly only be used together when one is a pimp. Green and pink is the subdued alternative.
TheComputerGuy 12-17-2000, 09:23 PM 2nd one, and 5th one, i like the 5th better.
