Hi..
I wanted to register a domain.Im planning to register it from godaddy...I want to pay them via my credit card..
So:
1) Is it safe to give my Credit Card information to them?
2) Are they a good registrar?
3) Should I go with them?
4) Are their any other registrar cheaper and better than them?

And no..please dont tell me about their various other payment options.I will stick to credit card usage.
Please help me..

So far both Namecheap and Godaddy have been good for me. Godaddy support is available by phone, which can make it a good choice if you live in U.S.A. or Canada. According to others their email support is not so good, so they could be not such a good choice if a call to U.S.A. is expensive. I haven't had any support issues with Namecheap, so I have no experience with how well it would work if I need it.

GoDaddy is a big company which is second in the domain name registration rankings, if I am not wrong. But even though, if you want my personal suggestion, I would go with NameCheap, even though they do not have ICANN Accreditation. They are simple and professional.

I don't think it matters that much if you're only getting one domain. :) The complications that you run into and the level of support that you need are pretty minimal. (IMHO, anyway.)

If you are in the US godaddy is an OK registrar. I used to use them but transferred away the last of my names last year

I love them, until I heard their site was hacked ( i think the thread is still in WHT) and the next thing I know, all my domains were down.

It’s awful. They don’t even read your emails, just post a standard answer and wait to see if it fits (with a bot?). Not to mention that you have to wait 48 hours to hear from them.

I would recommend enom.

I didn't understand which site was hacked: godaddy or namecheap? And was it really hacked or have you just heard?

if you are an end user godaddy should be fine if you're in US and don't spam and don't abuse as they involve when spam happens and might shudown ur domain for false alarm (been slashdotted once)

search the forum and read other ppl stories (bad/good ones)

My bad:emlaugh: I'm wrong.

Their site downed at that time was not due to hacking, was because they banned several countries    (Malaysia, Singapore included).

I would say NO for the fact that if you get your domain stolen, they will not do anything about it, even if you can confirm your CC.

1) Is it safe to give my Credit Card information to them?

Yup. They do have an SSL Certificate and I havnt had any billing issues with them.

2) Are they a good registrar?

Their support staff isnt too knowledgable about more technical aspects of their system, but besides that they are good.

3) Should I go with them?

Either them or Namecheap is the way to go.

4) Are their any other registrar cheaper and better than them?

Cheaper: Yes Better: No

I would say NO for the fact that if you get your domain stolen, they will not do anything about it, even if you can confirm your CC.

That goes with just about any registrar. GoDaddy notifys you via email if somthing is changed via their website, including attempted transfers. If your domain is stolen, its only your fault.

I registered one domain via GoDaddy today. Well, no problems with Credit Card, instant activation. As for now, I am satisfied.

I used to have one my domain at eNom's reseller, but it was extremely expensive and not very easy to manage all features, so I moved it to EV1Servers (Tucows reseller). I also have one domain registered directly from EV1. EV1 support is just great, but unhappily they do not register new domains at the moment.

GoDaddy has many great features and low prices. I like their control panel, but as I am accustomed to very easy Tucows panel, GoDaddy's is little bit more complicated. Still, I think GoDaddy is worth making a name with them ;)

I would say YES with GoDaddy

been using them for the last three years, and

1] good pricing and a lot of availible features, giving you flexibility and eaae of managment with your domains

2] phone support - very important when you have unusual requests or problems with your account

3] flexible and helpful support - had some domains "repossesed" due to a credit card mixed up and two registrations reported as fraud by my wife who did not recognized them on a CC , fixing the whole mess and getting the domains back took only 5 minutes of talk on the phone, one email and 24 hours of wait,

Vs enom for example - due to problems with 2 domains I have 50+ domains blocked for over a month now, support and "fraud" division is unreponsive and reachable only be email. Still do not really know why my account is blocked and what are "irregularities" they claim.

Their transfers are a little slow... but if you call and push them along, the process takes a few days.

Also it is stated on their website that they charge an ICANN registration fee.

so they shouldn't advertise they sell for $8.95, they should say $9.20 ;)
