Does anyone know of a free source to look up a domain's ownership history?

I know that whois.sc of offers that service for $15 / month, but that is too much for me to pay for a few casual enquiries once in a while. I also looked at the Wayback Machine on Archive, but their records appear to be very scanty.

Any other ideas?

You might have some luck directly asking the registrar for the ownership history. Otherwise no such free service excists besides the web archive.

well i doubt anyone has free service like this.

btw whois.sc doesn't have history for ALL domains, unless it whois there before or old/generic/short domain it wont be there.
