I have been looking around town where i live and i see businesss with emails like businessnames@yahoo.com and hmd@paradise.net.nz

do you think those are good places to get clients from?

Local hosts are th best! Advertise in the local and you will be successfull!

Local business is the best place to get reliable customers. If you see people with blah@hotmail.com. You can always confront them and say "Hey why don't you get yourname@businessname.com" they will typically respond saying they dont know how. Tell them you can have them up and running in 48 hours and give them a ballpark price. They may just want to start out with e-mail hosting, but then you can talk the into the benefit of having a web site and maybe get a design contract and hosting package sold.

Great venue. Keep poking in that area

Hey that's a great idea! If you haven't already, you might want to get signed up with a domain reseller program as well (like enom or WWD) so you can make some residual cash off their renewal each year. Also keep in mind you can easily charge a local business $20-30 for that domain whereas online people know they can get it for under $10.
