I am looking for a gallery script that can be easily embedded into a fixed width page.
I also need the script to have an admin panel so a user can upload new pictures from a web browser.
Is anyone aware of the existance of such a script?

Try the image uploader script from Celeron Dude http://www.celerondude.com. It's free and might be what you're looking for.

You can't publicize a good thing too much :)

Gotta love Snaps! Fast, easy, simple but nicely put-together. It's the brainchild of WHT member sonicgroup, and I've skinned it in less than 10 minutes once.

I would recommend singapore found at www.singapore.sourceforge.net. You can use the stand alone gallery or the external gallery mode can embed the gallery into an existing page. You can also set the width/ height of the photos within the gallery. It's very customizable.

Sure. :) Here's a little something I put together for my brother a month or so back: http://www.doodlehouse.com/gallery/
It doesn't really give you a good idea of the admin interface. For that, you'd need to install it for yourself. But it's soooooo easy to use!

I want to second Singapore. I've use it on three sites and it's easy to install and integrate into existing designs. It also doesn't require MySQL.

I've been using Coppermine very successfully on my site. It takes a bit of getting used to, but in the end I found it a very comprehensive solution if you want something more than just the basics.

Thanks for all the replies :)
I liked the suggestions and will keep them in mind for the future. I ended up using qdig.sourceforrge.net. All I had to do was make a small PHP Include call in the page and the script itself unobtrusively into the page very nicely. It also has an admin panel for the client to upload pictures and commenting ability (disabled).
I do think I am going to spend some time with snap and coppermine to testing them out some since they both look like EXCELLENT apps! Thanks for the time guys!

Thanks for sharing your choice with us. Looks like a nice gallery. Somewhat similar to singapore. I will give it a look.
