I am starting a medium-sized lacrosse site. It is a subscription-based online magazine. Does anyone have any advice for me in terms of getting exposure and finding people to advertise on the site? I really need some advertisers, but don't have any idea how to go about finding them. Thanks in advance.

I would go to other lacrosse and sports related sites and try and pick up some ppc advertising. And go into other sports related forums and put your url in your signature. good luck

Once your web site has some visitors, and depending on your content, it may be a good idea to swap links with webmasters of other related sites. People often completely overlook this, and yet it is one of the most effective and yet affordable way to promote your web site.

Good luck with your new venture. :)

I've actually had luck with classified ads in magazines (NOT display ads). Try placing one or two simple classified ads in lacrosse or related magazines. These are somewhat hard to track but not too much of a gamble.

Best of luck,

Any of these will provide advertising for you:

http://www.fastclick.com

Having said that though the money earned from a company like those above will not make you any money. If it pays your hosting costs you are doing well. The subscription based model you plan to use is more likely to make you money but is very hard to pull off on the internet where people expect something for nothing. Anyway good luck.
