In the WHT hosting businesses for sale forum, I love reading the comments like:

'sweet deal'
'would buy if they had the cash'
'this is great deal, should have no problem selling it'
'you should ask more, it is worth more..'

Those people and I've seen many almost on every post where a price is present. They jump out of nowhere to give their unwelcomed opinion (to make matter worse, they have little experience in the management side of running a hosting business).

If you THINK it is 'sweet deal' then grab a loan from mom or dad and come buy that 'sweet deal'. If you are NOT looking to buy, then don't post.

Why I'm irritated ? Because serious people like myself have to put up with sellers that get all greedy by thinking they can ask higher which in the end turns into nobody selling / nobody buying.

Thought to share....my two cents!

I think you hit the nail on the head there. Most of those types of posts are from kids. Sellers should realize that those comments should not have any bearing on their pricing strategy.

I have to agree. I come across people every day - especially business people - that want things for free or want me to lower some type of a price.

But then ask them to give you a couple months of hosting for free, a web design, a gallon of milk, etc - and they will look at you like you are crazy.

This has been something that has been burning on my mind for along time. True - bartering can be great, but if everyone always bartered, would we ever get anywhere?

I completely agree, bartering is good on some cases. For example, I've bartered for office space in exchange for onsite services. Which worked out great for both. I got the space, and the vendor got much needed services almost at no cost!

Sometimes I even wonder if buying a hosting business is worth the efforts and money. You are paying 7-10 times for clients that had been already dissatisfied in one way or another and hoping they'll stay with you for the next 12 months to make profit.

Doing the math, it feels like your Cost of Acquisition per client runs you up to $75-$100 depending.

Has anyone did some host buying here and was it worth it ?
