View Full Version : McHost and FrontPage Subwebs!

Hi

We are working up some sites all made and uploaded with FrontPage 2002. No problems and the sites all work well. Then I uploaded a frontpage site with subwebs and got "Server error: FrontPage Security Violation" this only happens with frontpage sites with subwebs in them.

MCHost sugest, "Due to limitations of the FrontPage extensions in the UNIX environment, if you wish to publish via FrontPage, you must do so either by using the FTP protocol or by creating the page while connected “on-line” and saving the page in the FrontPage Editor, rather then publishing a page created on your local Web to your virtual server. If you upload a FrontPage Web via the FTP method, the FrontPage extensions will be bypassed, however, and your FrontPage components will not function correctly. You can side-step this problem by first uploading your FrontPage Web via FTP and then connecting to the FrontPage Web online via the FrontPage explorer and “save” the files, which will then republish the pages and include any necessary FrontPage extension settings that are needed".

Having used FrontPage now for several years I wish to make full use of its publishing features and the subweb features. I could live with a workround but my customers that use FrontPage will expect full access to FrontPage features. Does this mean that to host FrontPage sites I should move to an NT/Windows company or can unix support the subwebs!

I dont wish to move as I think MCHost are great but my goal is to offer FrontPage web site hosting!

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards
Michael
