View Full Version : Looking for a new provider - OTHER THAN Hostway

My boss asked me to find a new reseller relationship that we can use to replace Hostway. They have stopped allowing accounts to have catchall emails, even though it is not reflected on their marketing, and thus it is to hard for us to move clients over to Hostway because we cannot always get all of the email accounts and their aliases before the move. The fact that Hostway removed this functionality from the accounts without even a warning, while keeping it in their marketing materials is bad business. And there is no one you can talk to at hostway that can answer any questions on it...

Anyway, could someone here give me the name a good Web hosting reseller compeitor. We are not looking for the cheapest, just one that is very stable, very solid and also does not surprise their resellers.

My boss wants to get out of Hostway ASAP, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks - Scott

Hi Scott,

Catch All is a pretty common feature. Some domains (especially those susceptible to spam attacks) really should avoid using them - but, on the whole, they can be quite usefulll

Are there any other features you require? How many customers do you need to migrate and how many resources do you require?

Those are some pretty broad requirements, just about every web host here could handle something like that. Anything specific, HD space, bandwidth, etc. Be sure to check out HostVoice.com

We are looking for a high quality hosting company that is financially stable. needs... 200-1gb of space, up to 100 email accounts, good stats program, like urchin 5.5. We are not looking ofr the cheapest price, $50 a month would be fine. We really looking for higher quality, and a company that offers good support with a private label reseller program.

Hi Scott,

That shouldnt be too hard to find...

Do you prefer any specific control panel. I would think the benefit of an H-Sphere cluster would help you. Typically, this tends to be more expensive - but, looks like you are working with a good budget...

Not hard to find ? I havent seen any reseller charges $50 a month... Normally they are much lower than this.

Hi Scott,

I have a sleeper for you. The Url is CV-Business.de.

It's in Germany and has realy good prices. I have a reseller account there and I'm absolutly satisfied with the service.

They don't have a reseller-package in their offers but that was an advantage for me. I just wrote them an e-mail with my questions an my requirements for the account to Hosting@CV-Business.de. Next day they answered me (in englisch). 4 gb, emails accounts as much as I want, Autoresponder unlimited ... and just for 40 $.

hope I could help you.

Scott, you have a good budget and want a solid host, right? You should take a look at OLM.NET. Search in WHT and visit the site, they are very very solid.

I wouldn't go solely based on price. You seem to be under the impression that expensive always equals a good host and it doesn't always work this way. I know some GREAT hosts that can provide what you want for $10 a month, and then I know some HORRIBLE hosts that would gladly take your $50 and treat you like crap. :)

I agree with Bohica. Paying more is not a guarantee of having better services. But there's a limit for cheap in the business. If a host is charging too low for their services they will probably have to oversell a lot to make money and this can be a problem in the future. Also, good techs cost money and as written on a signature here in WHT: "If you pay peanuts you end up hiring monkeys". For 60 bucks you could have a very decent VPS, maybe you should consider that.

Joshua,

There is a reason most established resellers have an average reseller price higher then $50.

Looks like you have been with your provider for under 3 weeks and they have only been in business a few months.

I tell you what - if you're still happy with that provider in 2 years, then I will accept that $50/month is too expensive...

Scott, based on reviews and testimonials, I would have to reccomend block9hosting for your requirements, they seem decent, have been around a while and have great pricing.

Good luck in the search
