View Full Version : NoMonthlyFees is a spammer
faithlezz 03-06-2002, 05:56 AM Hi,
My account has expired and I don't want to renew my account again (ever again). However, they keep on sending me junk mail (daily) saying my account has been suspended.
I am getting sick of this, has anyone has any idea to stop this?
Regards,
Cheers
Did you tell them you won't be renewing?
Lats...
diederik 03-06-2002, 05:58 AM If you use outlook, just set-up a filter that mail coming from them, automaticly goes to your trash/deleted mails.
Ofcourse you can mail those bastards and tell them to stop mailing you :D
faithlezz 03-06-2002, 06:02 AM Yes, I told them two days ago and also asked them politely to stop sending me those emails. Nothing happens.

Abu Mami 03-06-2002, 08:39 AM They did the same to me. I replied (multiple times) to each one. Either they eventually got the message, or their system automatically removed me from their spam list after a certain amount of time.
Probably they have a lot of emails asking them to stop sending email and couldn't keep up with the volume. My recommendation is to call them and take care of this problem on the spot :)
I check their website, and I think it shouldn't be that hard because they claim that support is #1 prioirity (if they live by their words of course ...).

It may be their #1 priority, but what are their other priorities? After all, it's all relative. My experience with them wasn't so good. They weren't terrible, but there service wasn't so good.
hayes 03-06-2002, 04:23 PM I would just call them.
HostAddict 03-06-2002, 04:27 PM How can your account expire with nomonthlyfees when you have a $200 lifetime hosting fee....and nothing after that....(things may have changed but I have had a "$200 lifetime" account for about 3 years -- the only time I have had to put more money into it was when my domain expired (still had my static IP to get to my account though) . Then I just waited for them to lose rights to my domain -- and then I re-registered it with another company under my name -- pointed the DNS back to their DNS servers and I was back in business...) They may have changed their business plan for newer users....I would be curious to know if $200 lifetime is no longer lifetime.
... $200 lifetime hosting fee....and nothing after that...
Now they have a yearly maintenance fee for $70, which is equal to ~$6 a month.
HostAddict 03-06-2002, 04:42 PM So now instead of $200 lifetime, they have a $200 setup fee and $6 a month hosting? This makes me laugh -- I bet some of you guys out there running hosts for $5.95 a month would love to get some of that hu? However, when I started my account 3 years ago with them -- it did say that the $200 lifetime was only for a limited time. What they did not say was that even when it was no longer $200 lifetime, they would still (on the surface) be $200 lifetime. Funny stuff.
XcalibuR 03-06-2002, 07:36 PM LAst Post.... You are sooooo right.....
I'm seriously in need of replacement host with more services tooo....
There was always somethjig sihy about that.
Is http://nomonthlyfees.com/comments.htm fake?

Is http://nomonthlyfees.com/comments.htm fake? Well I don't doubt that all the customers quoted on the comments page were happy. For the typical customer with minimal requirements and low (standard) expectations, they're just fine.
When I first started with them, things were basically OK - except for the fact that I kept loosing access to my control panel and ftp. Although they always promptly reinstated them, it was very inconvenient.
However, when I started to use PHP/mySQL/etc, I started running into lots of problems. Their servers were using old versions of these packages and they didn't want to upgrade. In addition I had a number of unsolved mySQL problems. The scripts ran very slowly and my site's response time was poor.
I left them and got my own box. Now I'm as happy as a pig in feces.
faithlezz 03-07-2002, 07:50 AM Sadly, I live in Australia, hence I don't think it's worth to call them to cancel my account.
richy 03-07-2002, 08:15 AM lol no monthly fees, eh.
a whopping setup and 70 a year on top. what a complete CON. sorry but they cant justify 70 a year for the domain. i think i just found how their con of a business stays in business. no recurring montly fee but a massive setup and a recurring montly fee. looking at their plan.
its 125 setup and 90 a year.
90 a year for 25 mb and 2.5 GB a month.
thats 7.5 bucks a month for 2.5 GB .
3 bucks per gb and a massive setup.
lol i really feel sorry for the people who dont see thru that.
faithlezz 03-07-2002, 08:53 AM What are you laughing about? I don't think this is funny.
Well, how am I suppose to know all the stuff you just said? You think everyone likes you?
At least I've learnt from my mistake.

XcalibuR 03-07-2002, 09:14 AM I don't think last post was meant toward faith....
Just that NoMonthlyFees...truely sucks and won't upgrade nor justify rates........
I feel like a NoMonthlyFees sounding board is needed.... !
So any true recommendations for one to be a reseller or Reliable/C.S./T.S.?
Cheers all...
richy 03-07-2002, 09:16 AM whoa sorry that really wasnt meant as an attack against you. it was at the company. what they are offering is very dodgy way of hiding an expensive hosting package.
im srry you took offense it really wasnt intended. and yes i do genuinely feel sorry for the people who fall for their business plan. not everyone has the time or knowledge to sit down and analyse it, they just see the no monthly fee thing and think its a great way to do business.
all this company are doing is no allowing you to pay monthly in effect. their yearly maintance fee is enough to buy you the same level of hosting from a decent company without the setup.
again im srry i offended you. i get miffed at companies like this offering something that really isnt. its deception. good luck with your next host.
XcalibuR 03-07-2002, 09:25 AM Well Richy....
I unfortunately am one of those suckers of NMF and am embarassed too.... The stress it took to set up a dozen accounts with them, now.... I have to fish>>>>
Where to begin????
Any advise Richy -
All in one best service company for:
Linux
ASP
CF
100% Customer Service & Tech Support
Not a good way to start the day
X
MadCool 03-07-2002, 12:21 PM I always wondered how NMF was going to survive back then... And now i know why. They are spamming me as well. Tell me about their special "$100" offer. Blah!
richy 03-07-2002, 12:27 PM linux and asp? best bet for that is prolly the chillisoft thing.
but the best advice i can give is to post a request in the appropriate forum and then review the offers you get. research peoples experiences of the hosts that are suggested. i'd hesitate to actually reccomend a specific firm because im not sure whos hot on coldfusion but in general the best advice is to see who wants your business and check up on them.

Why not just get yourself a dedicated server, or even a virtual dedicated server? Get it with a tech support package and you should be all set.
MGCJerry 03-07-2002, 03:57 PM I used to use NMF, and actually considered going back to them after my previous host went bust  Glad I accidently ran accross WHT :)
I never really had any performance issues with them, but my site was all HTML, Java, & Javascript.
After I cancelled my acct with them I recieved 2 emails stating my acct was cancelled, and that was it...
XcalibuR 03-07-2002, 04:54 PM Acyually considering, but have never done that route. So starting that hunt....Recommendations?

Probably not... but then no company posts the complaints they get, do they? or the ratio of good:bad comments they get.... Which obviously makes that page biased.
