I am new to the business of commercial webhosting, and I am rather confused with the various options avaliable. What is a colbalt hosting exactly? I know it has its own cobalt control panel..I try looking up the web to find out more, did not find anything useful. Other than that I am confused, what is a reseller plan? and What is the difference between that and a shared hosting? What do you get with a reseller plans? I would appreciate if someone can clarify or point me to the right direction for some sound reading on the web. Cheers. :)

Cobalt is a linux server which is now owned by Sun Microsystems.
It is considered easy to setup up because all you do is order it, put in on a raq and away you go. Takes like 5 mins to get all setup from the box to becoming a web server.

The pnly problem with it is that is not powerful enough and when problems occur, you better know linux well.

A reseller plan is offered by usually large providers who sell cheap webhosting packages to people who want to start up their own web hosting business who in turn sell the web hosting back to people at a marked-up price to make a profit.

Shared Hosting is a server hosting many websites...........
Multiple clients share one server......

Yes......A reseller plan is for doing just that......Reseller plans will come with all the features offered in shared hosting plans.....

You will get support, however, the support will be provided to the owner of the reseller plan.........you are then responsible for providing support to your customers

I would recommend MCHost.com or Voxtreme.com.

For a little more bandwidth, but less amounts within the features (mainly less subdomains and databases per domain hosted) I would recommend JMRHosting.com

Alanis, are you on their cobalt reseller plans? If yes, how do you find it ? I am a newbie, so I am very concern about the kind of support I recieve. btw, do they offer 30day money back on these cobalt reseller plans? Yep I am, and I couldn't be more satsified with it. They even sent me a manual on how to work everything. :) I'm not sure about the 30 day money back guarantee though. I'm sure sparkle can tell you though, he answered all my questions really speedy. :)
