Hi all,
I get about 300-500 visitors a day, mostly from Google.
I have developed a very nice homepage (I think so and a couple of customers praised it too).
I have got my own dedicated server. Very high spec. as well.
I deliver great support (at least my current customers tell me all the time).
I even put my real-time server uptime stats online.
I have low prices (for low space and bandwidth though because my 1GB is priced same as many other companies).
SO, I would expect people to be thrilled about this and get several signups a day... Well, currently only about 0-2 a day...
Am I doing anything wrong here? Any help is greatly appreciated.

0-2 a day is good enough to get started. Just advertise a lot, get the word out and soon you'll start getting some customers. :) Good Luck!

mpoulsen, you do have a nice site. i think you need to re-evaluate your hosting plans though. You don't offer plans with enough resources to your customers. What happens if a potential customer wants 50 GB from you? He might contact you, he might not.
What's with the $1.95 plans to? After CC discount charges you are going to working for nothing.

Hi Mike,
Thanks a million for the feedback. I have actually considered skipping the 100MB $1.95 deal and replacing it with a 2GB deal instead... Problem is that more than 50% of my customers are on that plan. That is an awful lot of customers I would potentially be missing out on, so I don't think I am ready to do it until I get a better reputation.
I figured that I can't cover everything in one go. So I decided to target the small package customers and resellers initially (some actually started with the $1.95 but are on the $6.95 now). After CC cost there is still $1.5 left of the $1.95 - not much, but it all adds up. Mainly I want to get some customers that can give some real referrals and reviews... That is currently my priority over making lots of money. Afterall, 100 customers are probably better at spreading the word than 10...
Thanks again for the feedback. If anyone else have got some advice, that will also be greatly appreciated.

Nice site, but you are currently below your 99.9% uptime guarantee. That will turn people off for sure.

It is understandable that you want to gain customers (even potentially at a loss) to use them as brand advertising. There is a risk in that type of customer though. I think most hosts will tell you that the $1/month customers are the most difficult to deal with. The last thing anybody wants is a customer that pays you $2 a month writing bad reviews on here about you.
IMO, it is not worth it to lower prices to gain customer base. Over time you will gain the customers if you provide quality services.

Yeah, I know... Ain't too happy about it apart from the fact that 1 hour was scheduled downtime posted in my Forum... But of course new customers checking me out don't know that...
After the weekend the monitoring will change to my new server though, resetting it to 100% uptime - exept then I lose the history factory... You can't win 'em all I guess.
Do you think I should take it the real-time stats offline, or do you think it is better to leave them on even though the uptime is "only" 99.86%?

Hehe, yeah I guess you have got a goodpoint there... I guess I'll just make sure that my customers are happy then ;) Anyway, I am green but in here I read all the time that you should stick to your business plan and then everything will be fine... So, do you think I need to review mine afterall? Or do my ideas make sence also in the long term?
I might add that my $1.95 customers actually cause me less problems than what I expected... I get about 1 support call per day for every 75 users...

Yes you are right that you need to stick to your plan.
I am not in any way telling what you are doing is wrong, however one of the most important rules when starting out is not to use low pricing as your primary means of acquring customers.
If you are getting 2 signups a day and your are new to the industry, I would consider yourself to be doing well. Stick with it and you will grow.

I only got about 1 signup a day when I started. Treat your customers well and advertise anywhere you can and you'll be up to 5-10 signups a day in a few months. The main key is to just be patient. :)
