I'm going to tell an experience we had last year with spamming.

We were in plenty of development of our hosting business, everything was doing fine, one day I go to sleep and the person in charge of tech support tells me (next day) we were kicked out from the server (we had a reseller account), the reason? one of OUR clients were seriously spamming throught a mailing lists, the owner of the host was so pissed off that he kicked out that night and said he was cancelling our account right away (yeah..like that), thank god my partner (who's in charge of techcnical department) convinced him to let us backup everything, give us 1 day to move....rootserver agreed.

Thank god I had some contacts and we got to move our clients accounts to a new host throught transfer multiple account function, changed dns and well...we keeped working.

We paid 2 months already on the previous host, this happened after the first month (so we had 1 paid month already), he didn't wanted to gives us that money back.

I dont know what you guys feel about dealing with spam but this rootserver overreacted, he canceled the user account who was spamming, but the way he treated us was like not the best way to react

what do you think of this?

The way your provider handled the issue with spam was completely inappropriate. Usually it's ok if they suspend the spamming account immediately and without prior notice (to keep the server from getting blacklisted), but shutting down the whole reseller account right away is not something a reputable company would do.

The only mistake on your part was probably not checking your provider's policy regarding spam in their Terms of service. Any web host specialising in reseller/dedicated hosting should have very clear policies regarding spam/spamvertising.

What's the name of that host by the way? I think they deserve to be mentioned here.

I know we made a mistake on our part, but we knew their policy about spamming, the situation was we didn't realized one of our clients were spamming, we did talked to him (he was 18 year old boy) who claimed HE DIDN'T KNOW what spam means (I just couldn't believe it).

the name of the host is http://www.liderweb.net
Its sad this happened to us cause it was really good host, great support, profesional until this happened, they did this cause the had new server and were afraid to have thos blacklisted but still, not the best attitude.

thank god we were in a good finantial moment so we could move to a new host ;)
