Is there a list out there on the internet of all the open proxies I can block? Damn it there is a bunch of determined leechers out there. I block the entire country and now they've wised up and are using proxies. I can't tell where they're being referred from either because they're using some downloading program that hides their referer fields.

hehe, I don't think you can block all proxies unless you scan every ip that enters your site and check ports 80, 8080, 1080, 3128, etc for a proxy. But I don't think you'd do that, and you might get into some trouble for port scanning. =)

Anyhow, they can put a proxy on any port so it won't really matter.

no there is not. and that list would be impossible to keep up to date. Let alone verify a proxy or not. There are anonymous proxies that you could never tell if a person was using a proxy or not.

I don't need to block every proxy, as some can be used for legitimate purposes. I just want to block ALL anonymous ones.

In my opinion its a waste of time. You can write some script to grab some list and compare the hostname to the list but thats a complete waste of resources.

We had a very similar problem, and we reached many solutions on identifieing and blocking proxies, the problem was that they were not usefull, only temporary until they come down, because our audience is like 99.99% (never looked at stats) from that country.

BTW, is this an Arabic country you are talking about?
