Not very cost effective... you should check out these fans, if i had the cash I'd use them.

Thanks for the url, but I really would like the one in the attached pic. Unfortunately I am still figuring out how to fit it into a 1U case  :D

BTW:
I found one of the best keyboards for windows servers out there:

dont ever touch those circular efforts. despite being naff at cooling they also have a nasty record for messing up cores as you install em.

have a reasonable selection of fans.

as for the big fan, thats gotta ensure you really do run a paperless office.

Actually, that's a rather lousy and ineffective CPU cooler. A good CPU cooler is a premium heatsink and fan that sits on top of the cpu with thermal paste connecting the two. If power permits, add a Peltier cooler on the CPU, which may be able to lower the temperature below room temperature. The most air cooling will be able to do is lower the temperature of the CPU to room air temperature. For an extreme cooling method, use a watercooling refrigeration system.

My 2.3Ghz Pentium 4 system runs fine on stock Intel cooling at 53°C at full load.

In my personal experience, these fans are not good at all. By the looks of the images, they appear to be Thermaltake fans. If so, I've gone through three of them within the last six months. The only reason I kept trying them is because I had the company send me replacements when the original went bad. They are extremely loud and don't help cool the CPU that much better. I use a fan made by Cooler Master which is Intel and AMD approved. No problems whatsoever with them and my system, and all that I work on are silent.

I had a cooler like that first one though, back when I had a commodore-64 running 24/7 for a bbs.

Only my bof (big ol' fan) didn't have any guard on it. It sat on a chair, blowing onto the commy and the power supply. And when I was bored, I would through paper balls at the fan and watch them fly away all torn.

The Cooler Master model I use is EP5 6I11. You can take a look at it here:

They have many more to choose from. This is just the one that came with the AMD Athlon XP 1800+ CPU I bought recently. I've used Cooler Master in the past many times and have never had an issue, however.
