Do any of you out there host charity sites for free?? If so where did you find the charities. The reason i ask is that i would quite like to host a charity site for free but i dont know where to look

We host several churches for free.
We openly advertise that we will; I suppose that would be how they find us.

But; are you talking strictly charity sites?

Well i would prefer strictly charities preferably UK based so i can check that they are actually legit.
The sorts of charities i mainly support are cancer charities and animal charities so this is who i am looking to host

We host some churches for free as well. I think the best way to find out would be to email a couple of hosts -- you'd be surprised how many will offer you free or discounted "at cost" hosting if it's for a church or non-profit organization.

I wasn't offering you free hosting; I do realize your a host. ;)

But anyway, regarding how to find such organizations, I recommend becoming involved with your local community. That way you can make contact.

If you host a church site for free, would all of you also a host a Beit Knesset (Jewish church) site for free?

We host a couple of 'free sites' - they must however be non-profitable or a charity.
Although we advertise on a number of hosting directories, the 'free' offer is only posted on one of them - and receives far more applications than we actually accept.

You can get 'swamped' and have to be a selective. To give an indication, the last one we accepted was for an organisation working in Nepal where they help children with TB leprosy.

We enjoy helping out - it's our way of putting a little 'back' :)

Just out of interest how much bandwidth do these charity sites usually use up a month?
I want to help one out but its no good if they are gonna use loads and loads of bandwidth as i havent been set up all that long and i need to start making some profits, therefore i cant afford to give all my resources away

Not a lot. One of the charity sites I host uses about 15 MB disk space, and 100 MB bandwidth (as an example).

Not a lot, we advertise a 'set plan' - specifically for them.
To be honest, they are 99.99999% excellent users, rarely asking for help or anything.
