.::DefCon::. 03-05-2002, 12:13 PM Grrr.... And we poor webhosts are still working our asses off to make just a little money, WHILE THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT BILLIONS !!!
Life sux :bawling: (sometimes :D)
IceBlaZe 03-05-2002, 12:58 PM The average fortune of the 500 richest was lowered down from 3.1 billion dollars to 3 billion dollars last year.

*checking accounts*
Dammit, I just missed that "-" ahead of my account...
bobcares 03-05-2002, 03:54 PM Hi!
I just missed it by 52.8....
But who cares.. Money comes and money goes...
I'm happy the way I am .... happy with life... :)
Have a great day :)
Regards
Amar
P.S. Bill Gates is so busy that he can't even come to WHT and meet all the wonderful people out here... Poor chap.... ;)
Walter 03-05-2002, 04:10 PM A happy man who only owns so much money Bill Gates lost last year on his shares...
:)
Skeptical 03-05-2002, 08:57 PM And I'll bet Gates will die without spending even 10% of that wealth on himself. So what's my point? No idea. Just trying to make myself feel happy.
IGobyTerry 03-05-2002, 09:03 PM I read in some magazine that Bill Gates is going to give away 26 Billion dollars to help fight the war hunger. Man, that guy could give like $5200 to each person in Ohio before going broke... or atleast I think... my math skills suck, so I might be wrong.
akashik 03-06-2002, 03:24 AM I think Bill Gates is enjoying a fair bit of that green. If you're read much about 'The Compound' here in Washington it sounds like a pretty sweet little shack. His property tax is close to $1 million a year I hear though (more than most commercial buildings in downtown Seattle), but that's small change for the man.
I know he and his wife donate a lot of money to causes so for all he's portrayed as the anti-christ he's not all bad (though I'll grant a fair whack of that 'charity' is tax deductable).
I'm sure at some stage he'll finally hand the torch to someone else and do his own thing. In his position I'd still be working pretty hard too. Must be nice to know you can do anything you want in life - money wise - good on him.

Cephren 03-06-2002, 05:04 AM I think Bill is a swell guy.
Look at all the philanthropist work he did....... I mean, out of all the billionaires out there, he seems like the only one (and his wife) too who are contributing alot back to society.
Take a look, out of all the billionaires, how many of them are still wearing crumpled tweed suits like Bill.
BTW Bill, can I borrow a 1 billion dollars to buy up all the hosting companies?

No. He won't give you money for buying something that isn't profitable.
:D

:D
He's the guy behind X-Box isn't he?
brently27 03-06-2002, 05:08 PM Not only is Bill Gates behind Microsoft and the Xbox, he is behind (in one way or another) pretty much anything computer/internet related in the world. He is a very powerful man.
Walter 03-06-2002, 06:05 PM Don't become paranoid.
:D
At least Bill isn't behind me.
(SH)Saeed 03-06-2002, 06:20 PM If he could only give me 0.0001% of his money, I could live a VERY good life. I'm sure he wouldn't miss that little pocket change..
 *dreaming*
.::DefCon::. 03-07-2002, 10:04 AM Boy, that man's yearly bank account interest must be like a couple of million $$$$$$ !! He can't even spend the interest he gets on his money! :D
bitserve 03-07-2002, 08:15 PM We should start the WHT lottery pool. We could find the state with the best odds. You know some states have balls where the numbers only go up to 30 or something, and then have cperciva, or some higher brained organism in computational mathematics write us a statistical program, and we could all donate, and buy lots of tickets, and all live happily every after. Or at least richily ever after.
The End.
Or we could pool our resources and siphon .25 cents per dollar from bill gate's primary bank accounts with a man in the middle attack, send it to the cayman islands for laundering, and back to our WHT swiss bank account for safekeeping.
Just a thought. :dgrin:
Cephren 03-09-2002, 06:57 AM I called Bill the other day saying....hey how bout investing into webhosting. Well not exactly like that. I said, hey how about giving us $50 million dollars for free and in return we will drop our Unix/Linux solutions + ban java on all our servers for good.
He is now going to invest in our company.
lol
