I have looked at the xcart and it appears to work great you can sell retail as well as wholesale. The only problem is the mininumn order amount affects both retail and wholesale limits. I need a cart that sells both retail and wholesale but only set a min. order in wholesale. I am using an oscommerce cart right now that has a lot of contributions installed but so far no contributions that works for the retail and wholesale end. oscommerce will work for customers groups but it has no way to hide the bulk wholesale items. Has anyone found a cart out there that will allow you to do this?

You could get someone to come up with an X-Cart mod for you to do this. It would not be very difficult, just a few IF statements.

That said, you might want to stay away from X-Cart. They have a history of stability and development issues. The support scheme consists of you finding bugs and then paying to fix them or waiting until someone else does and it is released to everybody.

If OSCommerce is doing what you need it to do, surely you could afford to spend a couple of dollars to get a minimum order qty contribution or modification done rather than buying another cart and porting your store over. Modifying your current store will be much, much cheaper and less time consuming.

I would love to keep my oscommerce cart. I don't mind spending money to get it modified. So far I haven't found anyone that can modify it to hide the wholesale products from the retail customers or set a min. order in wholesale only.

I second that, in my opinion, stay far away from X-Cart. We tried helping out a client set it up once, and had nothing but problems even after the installation went ok.

Hello Delores,

Im going to agree with the previous posters - it should be fairly routine to add this modification to osCommerce.

You may also want to take a look at zen cart - as it offers various inherent features around customer pricing level and groups. A better option may be to add wholesale customers to the appropriate group - then assigning a minimum order total to that group becomes a fairly easy process...

The contribution is there for oscommerce but just for the groups and it allows all product to be shown. It will not hide wholesale product from retails sales it will hide the wholesale prices unless they are logged in. I can't see adding bulk products to retail.
I love oscommerce except for this one thing.
I have talked with everyone I know that works with oscommerce and they don't seem to know how to make that part work. I will look at zencart.
Thanks for your response.
