I found a host that allows 41 GB of data transfer a Month for 36.99 a month but they use a term i don't understand the plan comes with a 128 Kb/s dedicated connection what is that? Does that mean if i get 3,000 hits in one hour that the connection will be slow i think that's what i read somewhere.

How many people can be on my site at the same time with a 128 Kb/s dedicated connection if i get to many people at the same time the server will be slow right i guess that's why it's so cheap.

It depends on whether your connection is burstable, if it is you can have as many visitors as you want and it wont slow down provided that have T1's or T3's but that much bandwidth for that little price seems skeptical. I would be very careful.

What if it were not burstable cbaker? What would be the max visitors the website can push?

It just depends on your website and what their downloading, im not sure but I think that connection is about equal to 10-20gig's/month

- Up to 41 GB of data transfer/ Month

Plan 2 Domain ( $109.99 per month)

whats the catch? I just figured that you could only have a few surfers at a time on the site.

I was going to say it was more around 40 gigs (even spaced out, maxed out). Somehow I got distracted by my new toy (a digi-cam).

How many visitors really depends *when* they come (all at once would be a bad thing). You can't put a hard number on this. Depends on how big the pages/files are that the simutaneous users are viewing/downloading.

When it starts to slow, upgrade to a bigger dedicated line.

128kbps does come up to about 40-41GB per month. This assumes that the connection is maxed out 24 hours a day.
Let's look at it from the perspective of a visitor to your site...

Let's say your home page has a total of 70KB of text and graphics. That is 573,440 bits to be transfered. On the 128k connection, this will take about 4.4 seconds to lod the page (assuming this user is the only one using the server at the time). Now, you can multiply the 4.4 seconds by the number of concurrent users you expect at peak times, and this will give you an estimate of how "slow" the connection will be. For example, if at peak you have 5 users, each one will take about 22 seconds to load, etc...
