View Full Version : Why would a customer contact the merchant account?
I had an order placed around midnight last night through 2Checkout, I usually wait a few hours to make sure it isn't fraud so in the morning I had the account created.
Around noon I get an e-mail from 2checkout saying the customer contacted them about not being able to login and that the payment would be refunded if it was not solved within 48 hours...
I have no idea why the customer would contact them and not support/billing/etc. for my business...
Any ideas?
Some customers do things like that. If you email them you can probably rescue the client if you explain the situation about verifying for fraud

How did your client even know that you used 2Checkout?
That seems lke information that most clients wouldn't know...

When you go to pay for it, it goes to a 2checkout.com page if I remember correctly
2checkout is a 3rd party and its pretty obvious when a customer is passed over to their site for payment. Also it appears on their statement as
2co.com <company name>

I guess he called them up as he assumed you were a reseller for them...
You should look into an actual merchant account that doesn't require the user to visit their site to purchase a product :)

I've thought about that but just feel it isn't worth it yet or for the future. With my own merchants account I have to deal with other issues like chargebacks, right?
BenEDH 03-15-2005, 05:35 PM Yes, but generally speaking you can get chargebacks reversed if you put up a good enough fight and you can provide enough proof :)
Does 2checkout not do chargebacks or something?

Not really sure about that to tell you the truth
I just loved how 2checkout was so simple in terms of getting everything done, which is why I decided to use them.
The other issue is that I don't really have a large benefit of going with a true merchants account and in the future I probably won't because of the work required in getting everything moved over.
BenEDH 03-15-2005, 05:49 PM Do you not use any billing software?

Yeah, I do, WHM AutoPilot
Corey Bryant 03-15-2005, 07:18 PM He might have contacted 2CO because he expected the account to be set up immediately and since it was not, he contacted 2CO to find possibly get his money back
BenEDH 03-15-2005, 07:21 PM Does WHMAP not automate monthly billing?

He contacted them 4 hours after his account was created and he was sent the e-mail.
BenEDH, it does, I'm confused how that relates to this though

Some people are just a bit impatient - I mean look at what happens even on here. If someone cannot access a website, they do not give it even a minute sometimes, but rather posting on here trying to find out why they cannot access it.
BenEDH 03-15-2005, 09:08 PM AgaBoogaBoo, if it can automate monthly billing and create CC invoices, there no reason why you should need to use 2Checkout... I use authorize.net and I nearly never login to that account, everything is automated through my billing panel...
AS-Richard 03-15-2005, 10:57 PM 2Checkout is not really a merchant account, it's a 3rd party processor. At the time of the transaction, the customer is inindated with the 2Checkout name.
Maybe they got confused and thought 2Checkout was the name of the host?
