How much power have a Raq3 ? ukwebhost 03-04-2002, 09:53 AM Hi, is a Raq3 still modern ? What do you plan to use it for? The good thing with UNIX is that free updates are everywhere. PHP can be installed manually, MySQL, webmail and webstats can be installed at the click of a button. ChilliSoft ASP will cost you extra for the license (unless it is one of the few RaQ3's that have it installed). Does I can use any Script Languages on a Raq3 ? Perl is already installed on the server, I think that the C/C++ modules are installed aswell. MySQL is available from the Cobalt website. PHP can be installed with a few simple SSH commands after downloading it from www.php.net. ASP needs to be purchased from ChilliSoft (If you want to support ASP, i'd choose PHP over it anyday). What else do you need? I don't think there are any usefull languages that it does not support. ooopss... better not forget Python, somepeople like it, this can also be downloaded from the python website. How much power have a Raq3 ? It depends on which one you buy, I think RAM can be upgraded upto 512Mb, processors are around 300MHz (I think), hard disks are around 10Gb usually. They all run an adapted version of Linux though so the system resources used are usually half that of a server using a Windows OS. HTH Rob. |
