Hello,

I am new here in the forum, but I am glad to find you ;) So my question , I found this offer :

Features - Dedicated Cobalt Standard Paket :
Cobalt RaQ3i System
AMD K6 350 Mhz Prozessor
128 MegaByte Ram
15 GigaByte Western Digital Disk
4 IP Adressen inklusive
50 GigaByte Traffic

Setup : 50 Euro
Month : 100 Euro

Do you think it is a good offer ? I found it here : http://www.xtserver.net/dedicated_cobalt.html . Can any one give me a better offer ? Thanks for help !

You can get better offers from:

http://www.rackshack.net (RaQ4i with 300 GB of transfer for $99 per month) or from http://www.tranxactglobal.com if you might be interested in a non-cobalt option - such as a Peintum III 1 Ghz for $99 per month also with 300 GB of multi-homed bandwidth. This will be much faster than a RaQ.

It is only 86,35 for the raq, also not so high setup fees like cobaltracks. Does any one use the XT offer ? So the Pentium III is faster than a cobalt, is this right ?

The old Cobalt RaQ 3 and 4's used AMD K6 processors - these are x86 processors which are not as fast as Intels on a mhz by mhz basis. A 350 mhz AMD K62 processor is about the same speed as an old Intel Pentium 300, and a 450 K62 is noticably slower than a Pentium II 400 and probably more in the range of an Intel 350. So yes, a Pentium III 1000 would be much faster than an RaQ 4 and much much faster than an old RaQ 3.

I don't know anything abou thte XT...

I believe cobaltracks.com isn't so good though - I believe they are the ones someone even setup a cobaltrackssucks site because service was so bad in the past. If I'm mistaken and have mixed their name up with someone else, please correct me.

Also that 128 MB of ram is pretty skimpy. I would go for at least 256, and myself would start with 512 MB of Ram. One of the things I really like about www.tranxactglobal.com / www.dv2.com is that you can upgrade the Ram for a one time fee of $75 to get 512 MB, or $200 to go all the way from 256 MB to 1 GB of Ram.

Oh this is not realy fast ;) But I think for my homepage, about 4 GB Space, a forum and a chat it is enaugh, and it is the cheapest price I see for a dedicated server with around 50 gb traffic, or I am wrong ? Does the cobalt have an admin menu like plesk or so ?

Take a look at the Cobalt control panel system at http://www.cobalt.com or http://demo.cobalt.com/demoraq.html

I find it a bit slow, but many people really love the RaQ's control panel. I think it's better than Plesk, not as good as Ensim or CPanel.
