View Full Version : Fraud/Spam warning script

We all get hit with fraud, chargeback abusers, Spammers, etc.. They and abuse you, then get nuked, and move on to the next host.

Does anyone know of a script that does the following -

Allows you to add your account abusers domain names to the script. Each night (week or month, whatever) it will do Whois's on those domains. It then auto generates a "postmaster and/or abuse@newhost.com" e-mail that has a templated message stating something like "Hello new host. The site <domain> was termainted for <whatever>. We are jsut sending you a warning"

I think something like this would be great to warn others. We got an e-mail from another host telling us they canceled some Spammers site and he moved to us. Before his DNS changed, we were able to terminate. Cost him more time. If a lot ofhost used a similar script/program, we could attempt to keep these scum bags on the run faster then what they are use too.

After a while, maybe the program/script gets popular and you can add some logo saying "Host watch Guarded" or something to where it links to a definition of what we do to accounts that abuse the system. Maybe after a while it would catch on.

Anyway, is there a scipt or something similar? We really would like to help out other host by advance warning.

I doubt there is one. But it most likely wouldn't be to hard to make. Maybe if someone paid a programmer to do it, then they distributed it everywhere, it could turn into a real popular thing. :) I'd use it.

I'd use it in a heart-beat.
Sounds like a splendid idea.

Dennis, you agree with me 99.934% of the time. You just don't want to admit it publically. ;)

The only problem this would have is that some website "competitors" can fake a black listing of a site.

Perhaps a PGP signed mail to a central repository would help. A webhost subscription will provide you information to previous reports on a domain.

This means as soon as someone signs up to an account with you and types in the domain, much like a whois lookup, you could search to see if there is a history on the domain that you would not except. For example 3 instances of "534: Chargeback claimed"

If someone abuses your system then you can have a template, PGP signed mail sent to the repository site that will add details of the abuse to the domains history.

I could code this. Don't have the time though.. doing bigger things.

Sound feasible to you?
