I was thinking about this, would weekly billing for web hosting be more effective than monthly?
Hosting would (seem to) be a lot cheaper. Customers would be able to have more immediate account creations and cancellations, as well as other things.
So what do you think?

I wouldn't mind if it was done by Credit/Debit card, however for those that still pay with check it would be a pay in butt. I don't think it would be more cost effective for the hosting company either because they would have to have their accountants doing that crazy stuff that I can't think of the word for every day, instead of maybe just one week out of the month.

Not to mention the host company would have to pay for 4.3x the transaction fees (typically $0.25-$1.00 each/month), which wouldn't help the bottom line.

Both good points. It was just something that I thought of on to few hours of sleep.

Weekly would get so expensive to administer. 4 times as much work...none of the billing software is designed for it...and the credit cards.
Although I use a merchant account, just thought I would throw this out based on 2checkout.
Lets take a $9.95 per month account. Right now the host gets $8.95 of it...so $107.40 per year out of $119.40 paid.
Now with weekly, just to realize the same amount, the host would have to clear $2.07 per week. To do this they would have to charge $2.67 per week, so a total of $138.84 per year.
And that is without even figuring the cost of all that billing and collecting.

I can tell. I think this is a very bad idea...

I only pay a percentage, not a fixed rate so it wouldn't cost me anything but... weekly:confused:
With hosting prices so low what would be the point?
