OK, here's da deal, originally I was going fulltime with Myacen.com.... but then, ifound this great deal at sparklehost.co.uk...... ok/ I was going to go with it, but my friend says Cobalt is a microsoft based nix, which he says means that it will not support perl... And then my friend says that Myacen.com will support it right, because they used a true nix..... Anyways, here are the plans....

On Sparklehost, it is:
$12 a month - Cobalt

1GB Webspace, 20GB Bandwidth, MySQL, ASP, PHP 4, Perl/CGI, PHPMyAdmin, FTP, SSH, GT Fileman , Control Panel, Static IP Address, Unlimited Email, Mailing List, Free Subdomains, Webmail, Webalizer Statistics, WAP enabled.

Alright, that's Cobalt Sparklehost...

Here is myacen...

NIX - $10 bucks a month

500 megabytes of space.
Data transfer: 20
Sub-Domains: Unlimited
POP3 Accounts: 100
SMTP/IMAP server: Yes
Email autoresponders: Unlimiited
Email forwarding: Unlimited
Catch-all default account: Yes
MySQL Database: 2
Shared SSL: Yes
PHP 4.0.6: Yes
Telnet (SSH) - Yes
Daily backups - Yes
99.888% backup time
Majordomo Mailing List - Yes
Ensim Control Panel - Yes
24/7 Tech Support - Yes
FTP accounts (Users) - 100
Web traffic stats - Yes
File manager - Yes
Backup Restore Option - Yes

In my opinion, I think MyAcen knows more of what they are talking about, but Sparklehost seems much more nicer plan, cuz of the additional 500 megabytes of space.... but they didn't change the bandwidtch some more though, ...

Can you guys help me? I don't know what to do right now, cuz sometimes my friend isn't correct, and I would like to hear from you guys..

Peace people.

Try sparklehost.co.uk :stickout

What it comes down to is, What do you really need?
People are too quick to jump ship because someone else offers more for less. sparklehost left much to be desired when I visited their site. There is very little information about them & their services.

Yes, I gathered as much from your original post. My point was, figure out exactly how much space, bandwidth, email accounts, etc that you need, and find a host that meets those needs, rather than trying to find the host that offers the most at the lowest price. I have heard a lot of good things about myacen in the past week or two. Try searching the forum here for them.

I'm not so sure about it being a MS based *nix. Far as I know, it is a modified RedHat linux, supports perl fine.

So, your saying Cobalt will run fine??????

WTF, my friend just said this is in the NewsPro Readme:
"This will NOT work under Tripod accounts OR under Microsoft servers of ANY kind including but not limited to Windows and Cobalt"

Can anyone tell me some more stuff now?
