A domain I had been looking for has expired recently:

Domain Name: BIG_SECRET
Registrar: IHOLDINGS.COM, INC. D/B/A DOTREGISTRAR.COM
Whois Server: whois.dotregistrar.com
Referral URL: http://www.dotregistrar.com
Name Server: NS1.DR-EXPIRED-DOMAINS.COM
Updated Date: 27-feb-2002

However, by querying whois.dotregistrar.com I get the old owner's information, and the domain is pointing to a "parking page" of Dotregistrar.com
Anyway, it has not been renewed (it expired on 26-feb-2002)
Is this the so called "on hold" stage? If yes, do you have any idea of how much it will last? Can it last forever? :confused:

i think that it stays on hold 3 months after expiring, i could be wrong on that oen though!

I'm not sure that dotregistrar has a formal policy for "on-hold" domain names. Some registrars drop in 45 days, others such as netsol can take up to a year to drop them. I would send an email to dotregistrar and ask if they do have a policy.
