hey all,
I am about to start a web hosting company and wish to be able to offer domain name registration to my customers. What companies do you guys recommend who have the lowest prices for the domains itself? I wish to be able my customers prices as low as possible, less than $9.00 if possible with me still able to make a profit even it isn't really significant, just enough to pay for costs. THanks Bobby

It really depends on the TLD's that you wish to offer, and the support that you expect from the registrar. There are places where if you buy in enough bulk you can get domains for as low as $6.99. However, the support lacks in comparison to some of the others. To me it is not worth it to save even a couple bucks per domain, if when there is a problem, I cannot get resolution in a timely manner.

Personally, I can't say enough good things about OpenSRS, however they cost a bit more to setup with, and domains are priced at $10. But their domain management system is great, and they update the registry a lot more frequently than a lot of other registrars, which means that changes go into effect faster.

One that I will tell you to stay away from, is dotregistrar. They have some of the lowest prices, but their support is the worst ever, and their management system is weak.

Hi,

OpenSRS do look good but the .co.uk, which I lots of, are more expenice that elsewhere by quite a bit. Is there any system out there that offers vheap .com's and .co.uk's?

Thanks.

Don't know about .co.uk, but stargate.com charges 8.00 for two or more names. They also have a reseller and an affilliate program. I've heard their CS isn't as good as Godaddy, but I've had good luck with both.

I use directi.com - $6.95/year with a minimum $75 deposit.
Their API isn't the best, but their prices are great.

Just check their website :)

I don't know if you've found them yet, but for co.uk domains, I use 123-reg.co.uk. co.uk's are about £3 a year, minimum of 2 years per purchase. I hope that helps.

I'm a big fan of eNom reseller accounts. They are really powerful. Get someone from the forum to set you up with a sub account, and you'll have a very easy way to get started.
