Ok, it's all fair and good us resellers selling our quality services to customers that don't know we resell, but I have a question to ask you.

If you were facing the possibility of using a reseller to host your site, would you use them, or go somewhere else?

I personally don't care who I use as long as they host my site.

What about you?

I'd guess the average Joe doesn't know or care what a reseller is or does.

When I purchased my first account, I had no idea how the whole thing worked, and didn't care.

Now I know a whole lot more, and it still doesn't bother me.

It's just a matter of degree...the real issues are service, quality, support, value-not how that is achieved. We aren't even consistent with how we use the term, "reseller". Some say if you aren't on a dedicated server you are a reseller, others say if you don't own the server, others try to say if you don't own the building. Well...

until someone joins us who owns the backbone connection, owns the carrier lines, owns the building, developed and owns the software, owns, and owns the server...we are all resellers. Although I am not a reseller under the common use of the term, I know many excellent resellers who provide superior value added services while leaving the server administration to others. Some are designers, some are technicians, and some are just good customer service oriented business persons. What the reseller must do however is be sure his providers equal his standards.

Every day of our life we are buying from resellers , think of it ...your car, food,
household items, all come from resellers. Why should hosting be any different? I
personally had the luck to have my first site hosted by a one man reseller who's
support went beyond the call of duty. He had no fancy control panels, just the space,
and yet I was very happy with him. It wasn't cheap either rather expensive, but I
always got answers, never any problems. I was with him for two years and would
recommend him any day. May I mention him here?
It doesn't make any difference if it is a reseller or just a one man business , if you get
good and reliable service that is all it comes down to.

Some constructive and positive post here :) difficult to add much more to whats already been said ;)

The most important thing is being honest about it, some resellers think theres a 'stigma' attached to admiting that they resell. Other just like to 'pretend' they are bigger and better than they actually are - hence never admit it.

If your honest and deliver what you say - the customers stay happy, and that's more important than anything else.
I have one philosophy - look after the customers and they'll look after you - the rest is secondary :)

Hi, I am a reseller i admit it. I used to buy my space off another reseller and never had any problems, i always answer support questions as quickly as possible and try and help my clients as much as possible.
Both of the companies i resell from let me know well in advance if there are planned server problems and give me full updates if there are unexpected problems which i then pass onto my clients

what companies do you resell from? Im thinking about jumping on the bandwagon, and I have a different angle to plug, so I think i could do decently well.
