Hey everyone,
I just reformatted my other box, and now I am having a problem with the mouse. The main problem is that it will scroll windows on its on... I have reformatted it twice and received the same result. I also have installed the driver, and have updated win2k, still no resolution. If anyone knows, please tell me what the problem is and how it can be fixed.

Throw away the Win2k box and keep the mouse :D :D.

In all seriousness though, I am not 100% sure what you are trying to say the problem is. You stated "The main problem is that it will scroll windows on its on... " I am sure this was mistyped but can you clarify what the problem is and perhaps we can help you out..

Is this a USB mouse or a PS/2?

i am sure its not windows problem so don't reformat your drives and do all stuff again, just change the mouse and i am sure things will be just fine. ;)

As i sated it does scroll windows on its own....if you open a site that has alot of content on it it will scroll it down by itself..

Ok go into your your control panel and click on the mouse icon, make sure the settings for scrolling are not set to autoscroll or autohighlight or something of that nature I forget exactly what the name is (It's been awhile since I used a windows box so please bear with me). Also make sure the device is working properly by going into your system settings. If these settings all look good and the mouse has no conflicts then hopefully one of the windows guys here can help you out.

I tried all the methods...and ..there are no device errors in the device manager...

hmm.. Is it a USB or PS/2 mouse? That is quite strange that is does it with 3 different mice. It has got to be setting in the O/S or browser, did you check and make sure none of the accessibility options are on? Perhaps it is a bad USB or PS/2 port on your motherboard. One other thing to check, if it is a USB port mouse make sure you dont have a bios setting or something that might be causing the problem.

Best of luck to you hope you can figure it out.

It is a PS/2 mouse, the port is fine, because I have used this computer many times before and it worked fine...
BTW: the mouse still moves around the screen on its own...

I'm kind of at a lost for words here :D. I cant really think of anything else that it might be?? Strange.. If I think of anything else I will let you know.

*shrug* Are you networked? Does anyone have access to your computer? Or does this happen immediately after a clean load?

Have you tried/borrowed a serial mouse, to completely eliminate the PS/2 port as the problem?

We are networked, however the mouse problem occurs only on that computer, and occurs after a clean load.
