View Full Version : Is anyone awake at Solidload?

I've sent two pre-sales e-mails to sales@solidload.net - one on Friday February 22, and the other on Wednesday February 27. Both have gone unanswered.

I know that this type of lack of response is usually a warning sign, as if their responses to potential clients is this bad, their service can't be much better...but I've heard quite a bit of good things about this particular host.

Any similar experiences, or is there anyone else I should contact at Solidload?

Yeah...yeah...I know.... :o

It's just getting frustrating that I can't seem to find an inexpensive host that's reliable. I'm only running a personal site, but of those I've tried (including HosTurbo and Gearhost), I haven't found anyone who seems to be running a clean business.

I know, I know....caveat emptor...and that I shouldn't expect much for less than $10/month...but I'm really not asking that much, or expecting that much...just reliability from an honest company. Every time I think I've found someone, their reputation goes south (the two previously mentioned, solidload, aletiahosting, etc).

The search goes on....:D

Anyone notice a pattern here? I think web hosts everywhere should be scared of this guy... :D j/k

LOL avara....

I think it's a matter of me just being a glutton for punishment...hoping I find that needle in the haystack...and willing to pay $5-$10/mo. while wading through all the muck.

I know there's one out there for me...just haven't come across it yet.

Until then, I'll be looking for most hosts to jinx.

Still waiting!

I did try their 800 number...sounded like the answering machine for the building supervisor...very short and full of static..

Not good signs.

Well, I really don't want to post a recommedation of one host here over another, but I will say that there are some hard working hosts and resellers here who would probably fit the bill. Why don't you post your exact needs (space, transfer, special features, etc.) here and/or on the Requests Forum and see what comes your way. Check them out here and on the web (elsewhere) and ask others who have had positive experiences. I'd think you'd be able to find a solid sub-$10 plan for a personal site.

Thanks chicken...I'll give that a shot. I'm leery of a lot of the 'special offers' as I'm looking for someone who is in the business for the long-run, as I''m looking for not only a host for myself, but also for my father who needs a mailing list...and I know he wouldn't want to go through all the trial and error that I've had to.

I'll take your suggestion...but out a few requests...then check up on them.

Thanks,

Paul

Cheap host?

Try www.3-95.com

I've been with them for three months now (only $3.95/month), and my site hasn't gone down once. Not to mention it's always very fast.

Bandwidth is limited to 5-6 gigs/month.
